  1. Evening all from Estuary-Land. The bin wagons dawn chorus was a bit late today, in fact the black bags were not collected until it was getting dark.
  2. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Social services have been involved for a while, since she was very small. She should have her own social worker but due to austerity cuts the local council cannot afford it. Things weren't too bad last night, nothing worse than banging of doors.
  3. Morning all from Estuary-Land. The bin wagons dawn chorus seemed somewhat muted this morning there may have been some fist and mog earlier but had cleared by waking up time. The term doctor of course covers many disciplines, our lady of the awl is a doctor but not of medicine. Best wishes to John and Sandy, Station Cat, LE's mum and any others I may have missed. Thats it for now, be back later.
  4. Brilliant pics, note that there are differences between the two Brills, one of them appears to have a flatter cab front to the other.
  5. Mine is going to have the match wagon permanently close coupled. I might also replace the conflat with something a bit smaller.
  6. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Not going out tonight I watched 'Death in paradise', saved me having to find time to watch it on I-Player. The problem is that not only does she have a mental age of about nine she is also severely autistic. This is compounded by the mother not being present (parents are divorced) and having little interest in her or her siblings.
  7. Who makes the Crossley staff car or is it scratchbuilt?
  8. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Not sure of going out this evening as my friend who goes with me is having problems with his 16 year old daughter. Last night she didn't even go to bed instead she spent all night playing on her X-box. As a result he removed said X-box and her mobile. Last time this happened and he went out he found that she had caused some damage so he daren't leave her on her own.
  9. Reading the prototype data it says that they were available in all gauges from 2' 6" to 5' 6". Who's going to be first to put an N gauge mechanism under one? As for the original 00 gauge chassis, I can see a few uses for that as well.
  10. I've pre-ordered one. The army also used the Wickham trolley as modelled by Bachmann. The one in yellow with the striped ends only needs the sides painting in army green.
  11. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Another evening out tonight with a modelling theme, and another lot of subs to pay. Also there will be some items from a deceased members estate for sale so I'd better stock up with some modelling tokens. Chris, if you think that your abode is untidy you should see mine, though on second thoughts perhaps its better that you don't. Muggatee awaits, be back later.
  12. Does anyone know what the model weighs? There is little space for any additional weight. I have ordered the open cab version (army) so I can add a white metal figure or two.
  13. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Club night tonight and subs are also due. Potter Heigham?
  14. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Sun is shining here this morning but its still mighty chilly but evidently there had been a shower overnight. Club night tonight and subs are due so I have to withdraw sufficient funds today. Thats it for now, be back later.
  15. I wonder if the six wheel version would have been a better seller.
  16. Afternoon from Estuary-Land. I've pre-ordered my Ruston from Hattons, I now find that another emporium is offering them at £2.00 less, but after postage is taken into account there's only a few pence difference. I'll have to start on that micro-layout now.
  17. Another one mistook the track for a road? Pratnav strikes again.
  18. Morning all from Estuary-Land. I finally decided on which Ruston to acquire, the one in Army livery and duly pre-ordered. Chris, I avoid the sock problem by buying a large number of identical pairs. I then even out the use by putting the freshly laundered ones at the back of the sock drawer and taking the ones to be worn from the front. Towards the end of the war in the far east my dad, a lowly lance bombadier was seconded to the US Army, he was a driver mechanic and the Americans had a dire shortage of drivers. His task was to drive a Diamond T tank transporter with Sherman tank up the Burma Road from India. For that he got the American rates of pay which corresponded with his trade/rank/experience had he been in the US army, Master Sargeant, about 4 times his British Army pay! though he lost about half of it after the Pay Corp had dealt with it, and he didn't get most of it until he was back home. This was in July 1945 and by the time the tanks reached their destination the war was all but over.
  19. I've pre-ordered one. I will be close coupling the match wagon and have it permanently attached to the locomotive, or possibly a proper shunters truck.
