  1. I wonder how easy it would be to remove the steps from the model?
  2. Checking the local Thompson's/Yellow Pages there seems to be quite a few options for garage door fitting so there is plenty of choice.
  3. Good morning (yet again). What I thought were sparrows in the adjacent thorn bush have turned out to be coal tits. They are creating quite a racket, it only goes quiet when the magpies are around. The thorn bush is quite large, thick and is pretty much impregnable to anything larger than a small bird anyway.
  4. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Still a bit cloudy but predicted to clear later. Not a lot to report, mind has gone blank, be back later.
  5. Evening all from Estuary-Land. One of my subscribed to magazines dropped onto the mat this morning. Not a railway mag but it had reports of the London and Nuremberg toy fairs. Ironically Revell have just introduced a kit of the Airbus A380 just as Airbus has announced that production of said aircraft is to cease.
  6. Simon, here are a few suggestions for possible 3D printed models as mentioned a couple of weeks ago. I have found not only a source of photographs but of scale drawings as well. 1) Whitcombe centre cab diesel locomotive. These locomotives were supplied in 1942 to the 8th Army for use in North Africa. Most of them then went to Italy with the 8th Army but two came to the UK and were used on the Longmore Military Railway. The drawings and photographs can be found in 'The Longmore Military Railway Vol.3' ISBN 139781899891. 2) Channel Ferry Passenger Brake Van. These were the precursor to the Southern Railway BY vans, the principle differences were the 'birdcage' lookout over the guards compartment and they were the only such vehicles with even planking. D & P's are in 'Southern Railway Passenger Vans' ISBN 0853614288 (Oakwood press) 3) London Tilbury & Southend Vacuum Cleaner Van. This unusual van, which resembles a cross between an Iron Mink and a Lowmac was built in 1912. D & P's can be found in 'Locomotives and Rolling Stock of the LT&S' ISBN 0853614660 also from Oakwood Press. 4) Oxford & Aylesbury bogie coach. These were built by the Bristol Carriage & Wagon Co. for the O&AR c. 1895 and were open coaches with longitudinal seats and end balconies. They were quite small being only 34 feet long over headstocks. D & P's are in 'The Brill Tramway' by Bill Simpson ISBN 0860932184 (OPC).
  7. Indeed, I thought it was a mistake to put Wendsleydale into a corner of the Jubilee Room. With the large number of young children present such a layout needs plenty of space.
  8. Morning all from Estuary-Land. No RMweb last night and this morning I had to reset the parameters from the defaults. Dave H, It only happens sometimes to me that a previous post appears. It only happens if I leave the thread before the post has loaded or if I open the box and then decide not to post. The first only happens when there is a delay in loading when I leave the thread then I go back in to make sure it has loaded. Now time to put the kettle on and have a bit of breakfast, be back later.
  9. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Dinner is cooking, a lasagne and chips as the intended Sunday dinner is still frozen solid, I forgot to remove it from the freezer. Anyway it will now be tomorrows dinner, instead of the lasagne. Its nearly ready so I'll be back later.
  10. Morning all from Estuary-Land. A bit late on parade this AM as I was a bit tired after yesterdays exertions. Now for a late breakfast (brunch?) and a muggatee. Be back later.
  11. An enjoyable day out. Only problem that I could see was the crowds, it was packed but I did manage to view most of the layouts.
  12. On my way to the Tonbridge show as I approached the town down the A21 where the road dips the fog/mist got rather thick so I switched on my fog lights. I saw very few other drivers doing the same yet in clear conditions you see plenty using them.
  13. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Condolences Q on your sisters loss. Had a good day at the Tonbridge show. But it was heaving with still long queues at just after eleven when we arrived which sometimes made it difficult to view some of the layouts. Expended quite a few modelling tokens, how many I'm not quite sure yet. Speaking of birds arriving for spring as I was leaving home this morning I observed a mini murmation of starlings, mini because there was no more than about a hundred individual birds but as the year progresses I hope to see more.
  14. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Just a quick hello before I'm off to Tonbridge. Andrew, look out for an old git with a flowing beard supported by a red walker that will be me, come over and say hello or avoid at all costs if you prefer.
  15. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Met up with my friend at lunchtime and he's decided that he's fit enough to go to the Tonbridge show so thats where I'll be tomorrow. Slight problem is that the venue is in the town centre and theres no mention of parking facilities so its fingers crossed.
  16. Mine was showing stuff that I don't recall ever viewing and now its disappeared.
  17. Morning all from Estuary-Land. No fist or mog this morning but a very heavy frost, but the central heating's keeping things snug. I have the same thing but not any threads that I recall visiting let alone posting on.
  18. Valentines day, or to give it its correct title, Lupercalia. As with most festivals and saints days it originated as a (Roman) pagan festival. As with many pagan festivals it was involved with fertility, all the names of the unmarried young women were placed in a jar and were then picked out by the eligible bachelors and then the paired couples went off together. The early church was somewhat dismayed by all the goings on so created St. Valentines day.
  19. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Picked up the latest Railway Modeller today, only perused a small bit of it but it seems a bit thicker than usual. I thought about doing some more in the shed but when I stepped inside it it was bl**dy freezing. Not surprising really as this time of year it gets very little if any sun.
  20. I hope for your sake thats not in any way connected with the diet.
  21. Morning yet again from Estuary-Land. Fost and frog has all but disappeared and so has the bin wagons dawn chorus. The local sparrows are making a lot of noise in the thorn bush near my front door, possibly they are nesting there as the bush is relatively cat-and-any-other-predator-proof. C&C's where necessary, be back later.
