  1. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Looked out a little while ago and the mist and fog was already forming. Hope its OK when we go to Tenterden tomorrow. I did intend to go via the A274 via Headcorn but if its too foggy I might have to stick to the M20.
  2. This has happened a few times to me. Sometimes the post appears in the box next time I post but its quite easy to clear the box.
  3. Morning all from Estuary-Land. The fog and mist reported by Tony this morning is now lifting and the sun has just poked through so it looks like its going to be a good day. Busy weekend ahead so got to get things ready, be back later.
  4. Evening all (again) from Estuary-Land. Planning our trip to the Tenterden show this Saturday. Of course I've checked that the K&ESR is running, it is but buying tickets for what will be half a day is not viable but theres plenty of events later in the year that should do. You can use your tickets twice, that is for two different dates if you book on-line but its a bit late now for this weekend.
  5. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Picked up my Euro-lottery winnings today, £4:40, so I'm going to spend spend spend. Didn't notice any bin wagons dawn chorus this morning but the bags have gone so they must have been in stealth mode. Dinner to get ready so I'll be back later.
  6. It would be the nearside in Germany, the camshaft was also moved across. The change was because of the steering shaft which passed close to the engine block.
  7. The Austin 7 was also produced in the USA as the Bantam. Rather unusually although the internals of the engine were identical the camshaft, carburettor and manifolds were moved to the right hand side. Bantam became independent of Austin and their cars although retaining Austin features became more Americanised. Bantam also built the prototype of what later became the Jeep. AEC also produced 'mirror image' engines, originally for the side engined Q type bus and later for left hand drive half cab buses. The engines in the Q type buses also rotated anti-clockwise unlike most engines which rotated clockwise when viewed from the front.
  8. Morning all from Estuary-Land. I too have the lurgi and have had it for the past week or so. I've been on the Lemsips fortified by a tot of Caledonian falling down water. Not so bad this morning, not having yet to resort to the Kleenex.
  9. Isn't there also a Southern pillbox brake van abandoned somewhere in the Fens?
  10. The last vehicle to be built AFAIK with the accelerator between the clutch and brake was the Fordson E83W van until 1948 when it changed to the more conventional layout. However LHD versions persisted with the central accelerator until the end of production in 1957.
  11. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Club night tonight and bin day tomorrow, muggatee awaits so its be back later.
  12. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Happy birthday ChrisF, not that your likely to read this anyway. Last night was SEERS night, available on sale to members was a deceased members rolling stock at bargain prices. I managed to 'bag' an unused Hornby 'Shark' ballast plough/brake van for £3 as well as five other items a ridiculous prices, I spent £15 in all. It seems that the deceased member was a bit of a hoarder, like me. Made me think though what will become of my 'stuff' when its my turn to go, hopefully I will be able to distribute much of it before I go.
  13. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. We were pestered by people offering to power clean drives, gutters and roofs, until a few months ago then they seemed to have disappeared. As it happens a retired trading standards officer has moved in a couple of streets away, I suspect the two events are connected.
  14. Are you allowed to scratch a princesses bottom?
  15. Just so that this thread appears in my activity stream. Still fumbling about in the 'new' RMweb.
  16. I hope to attend but its not certain at the moment.
  17. The only photos of them I have seen are in black and white. The earlier industrials were painted in a slightly darker shade of LNER green.
  18. Still made in India until recently, they were going to put it in the SD1!
