  1. Evening all from Estuary-Land. The site is a tad slow ATM so its be back later.
  2. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Been looking at the paperwork re. the PPI refund. 60% of the amount is made up of interest at 8% per annum. The actual payments I received back was about 25% of the total the remaining 15% being the interest that I paid on those payments (Added to the credit card debt). There was a bit of tax to pay on some of the 8%, at the standard rate but not much. Now all I need to do is wait for the cheque which should arrive within four weeks. The shed is only 4' by 5' and fitted with ventilators. A floor (chipboard or plywood) is included in the package. It will only be used for storing gardening equipment not as a workshop.
  3. Post has just arrived with another letter re PPI. They now agree that I am due for a refund of over £800! Well thats quite a few modelling tokens.
  4. Don't take their phones off of them, take their driving licences off of them. And if they do it again remove their licences permanently.
  5. I only knew Mal through RMweb and his empathy and kindness was very apparent. You only have to read his last few posts on this thread to realise that.
  6. The opening rear window on the Imp being glass would not conduct electricity and IIRC were frameless.
  7. I once had an Imp van and I can confirm that the battery was in the back on the right hand side. Also the vans (and the Husky estate) tailgate was easily capable of opening high enough to make contact.
  8. Morning all from Estuary-Land. A bit late on parade this morning due to my watching 'Murder, mystery and my family' on the goggle box. Commiserations Baz on the loss of your Marra and thoughts are with Mals family. I've selected the garden shed that I want, galvanised steel rather than aluminium, erected and installed for less than £500, now all I have to do is arrange the concrete base. There are several mix and lay companies locally so I can get a few quotes, only 4-5 square metres are required. Thats it for now, be back later.
  9. I can't add anything to say about Mal that has not been said except he was one of the best.
  10. Thanks for your news Ian however sad. Where is Gabe's update please as I can't find it on RMweb.
  11. Evening all again from Estuary-Land. I've just been looking on Farcebook and I see that another of our missing ER's, OldDudders, has paid a brief visit to hospital. The cause was burstitis, not serious in the great scheme of things but rather painful.
  12. Evening all from Estuary-Land. I have had a few minor problems with the new site and it does run slow at times. I use Chrome to view this site but some things such as Facebook and Paypal seem to be better on Firefox. I only use a laptop so I can't comment on other devices.
  13. Morning all from Estuary-Land. No more gardening for me for a day or so, woke up this morning with an aching back, a long soak in the bath has eased it but why take chances? Someone asked about Dutch Master a couple of weeks ago and he's definitely gone, as has Horsetan. In woodwork class when I was at school I produced the best firewood. Thats it for now, be back later.
  14. Its a criminal offence to alter the mileage on a speedometer and many cannot be altered for that very reason.
  15. Evening all from Estuary-Land. I've decided on where my new (garden) shed is to go so Monday I will be phoning the mix-and-lay people for quotes. This afternoon I tidied up a few shrubs in the garden, one, a privet with yellow/pale green foliage was sporting a few dark green shoots which were removed. Thats all for now, be back later.
  16. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Attempted to clear some more of the brambles at the bottom of the garden. In doing so I managed to pull a bramble through my bare fingers. It did sting a bit but no broken skin so after a rinse under the tap I donned the gardening gloves which I should have done at first. Also one of the shed windows fell out, not a great problem as the shed is rotten, the reason for the window falling out. Luckily I found an old board that is ideal for blocking the hole which it now is. I have decided that its replacement will be aluminium, a bit more costly than wood but rot proof. I hope that those attending Ally Pally had a good time and spent plenty of modelling tokens and Rick, did you forget the deodorant?
  17. Morning all from Estuary-Land. I expect its too late to wish all those going to Ally Pally have a good time as they are probably all there by now. Had a reply this morning re. PPI saying that I didn't pay any and that I had no claim. So whats the £19.95 extra that I paid in each month then? Muggatee to be drunk, be back later.
  18. Apparently they used to wait were the train was going very slow, jump aboard and proceed to remove the car radios. The favourite spot for boarding the train was where the line crossed the Liverpool Street lines at Forest Gate. This particular incident was about 35 years ago, and it was discussed in the model railway club. One member asked "Where they black?" to which the answer was "They are now."
  19. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Ventured down to the bottom of the garden this afternoon. Behind the garden shed was a mass of brambles. I've cut them back as much as I can so over next week its out with the weedkiller. The shed itself is due for removal later this year and replacement by one nearer to the house. (To avoid confusion this is a wooden shed for gardening tools, the shed I'm lining out is a brick structure attached to the house.) So have I but they haven't been played for many a long year. Tea to be drunk, be back later.
