  1. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Happy birthday Rick and many more of 'em. Having a re-think on the baseboard for the young mans layout. The redundant paste table is too far gone to be of any use, even as a paste table. The optimum size is 50 X 85-90 centimetres and I've calculated that I will only require two sheets of 100 X 50 centimetre ply plus a bit of squared timber which I have to hand. Thats it for now, be back later.
  2. Its certainly a larger scale than 00.
  3. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Again today's expedition barely dented the pile of modelling tokens, just a few bits for the young mans layout. Natalie, I hope that things get better for you, I cant add anything to Stewart's and John's excellent advice.
  4. Actually its Scaletrix but even then its not worth the asking price.
  5. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Targeted ads, they've got nothing on flea-bay. A few weeks ago I happened to look up Budgie toys die casts, since then I have been offered budgerigar cages a few times. The longest journey I have driven in one day was from Ostend to Manneheim, this was back in 1974, I wouldn't want to do it now despite the route being made shorter. Much of the route back then followed the Rhine rather a long way round. Tea to be drunk then off to dispose of some more modelling tokens.
  6. Evening all from Estuary-Land. I visited my friends shed this afternoon, and its enormous 24' X 12'. He is currently waiting for the electric cable to be laid then he can commence the wiring and lining out. Now time for bed, goodnight all.
  7. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Had a good day, only a few modelling tokens disposed of, all for the young mans layout including the most important tunnel mouths. The South Benfleet exhibition being rather small was 'done' in about an hour then we went onto the Billericay exhibition in its new venue where we found the aforementioned tunnel mouths. Made friends with a couple of dogs, one a Jack Russel at the Benfleet exhibition was friends with everyone and a young spaniel outside the Billericay venue invited everyone to play with his ball. You threw his ball and he bought it back and dropped it at your feet and gave you that expectant look meaning 'I want you to keep throwing the ball for me all day'. Thats it for now, be back later.
  8. It would probably add to production costs and make the models too expensive. Also some manufacturers have yet to get fitting such things as mirrors to their models.
  9. That indeed is what it is, the memory needs a little prod now and then. Not so many bees in the last few days as its been a little too cool for them but as the shrub is up against a west facing wall in the warm weather dozens of bees cover the wall taking in the evening sun.
  10. Morning all from Estuary-Land. A quick hello as I'm off to visit two exhibitions today. A bridge isn't planned but I'm thinking of a quarry.
  11. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Met up with my friend lunchtime and after some discussion we found that we possibly have a ready made baseboard for the young mans Skarloey layout in the shape of an old paste table, we only require one half and do not need any legs so it should do. It seems that we have all the basic requirements now to proceed with layout construction. One thing to sort out though is the young man insists on there being a tunnel. I get the RMweb notifications but only once a day which I delete after a quick perusal.
  12. This was discussed on Facebook last year. IIRC the gate wasn't secured properly and swung into the path of the lorry.
  13. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Woke up at the crack of dawn this morning, turned over and went back to sleep again and didn't wake up again until 8 so running a bit late. And so is the bin wagons dawn chorus even taking into account their being a day late due to the bank holiday. I'm still searching for electrical connectors but the ones I'm looking for are not stocked by either of the green or orange emporiums, they used to be stocked by Maplins but as they are no more I'm having to look elsewhere. Bob, I too have shrunk with age. In my yoof I was 6' 2.5" but now I am slightly less than 6 foot, I also have that age old problem of the chest dropping into the drawers.
  14. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Thanks for the information about DB, it was all over the news this evening. My thoughts on it are 'What a pillock.' I cant see him being employed on the radio again. Now kettles on so its be back later.
  15. Morning all from Estuary-Land. All this talk of sheds reminded me that I ought to get a move on with my own shed project. That is the brick one attached to the house. Firstly I will have to clear it out of all the toot that has accumulated since I last cleared it out. I need some items to complete the Mini-Micro layout namely connectors that used to be available from Maplins and the big orange emporium doesn't stock them. In what way?
  16. Another flying creature(s). A shrub in my garden is currently covered with bees. At least 3 species, honey, bumble and one other that I can't identify. Sorry that I can't remember the name of the shrub but its evergreen with oval dark glossy leaves with blue/purple thumb like bracts of minute flowers.
  17. John, the reason for the delays on the M6 was a car fire, a police car.
  18. What about a sign saying "Duck or grouse."?
  19. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Good news! I've found the track pins. Where did I find them? Right in front of me right under my nose!
