  1. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Bright and sunny this morning so I'm going to give the weeds that have sprung up on the patio a dose of weedkiller. Best wishes to John and Sandy and Bon Voyage on your return to Cornwall. Tea to be drunk, be back later.
  2. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. No sign of any rain today but getting a bit muggy. Haven't done much today, probably the same tomorrow.
  3. I'm quite sure your going to enjoy putting her stuff in the skip.
  4. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Another fully signed up member of the lie-in club here but if I want tea in bed I have to get up and make it myself. A bit grey overhead and a lot cooler, and more importantly a lot less humidity making it far more comfortable. Hope Sandy is out of clink soon and C&C's to all that require them, be back later.
  5. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Managed to do both events after all. When we left the Brentwood toy fair about noon the rain had actually stopped so we went to the bus rally and spent a couple of hours there. On the way home we stopped off at Tess Coe's and when we left there it was tipping it down. Understandably the bus rally was badly affected by the weather, it was nowhere near as crowded as last year and some of the stallholders had decided not to attend and one or two others had packed up and left. Despite that I was able to buy some books and diecast models. My friends young lad despite the weather insisted on wearing his sun glasses, even indoors. He then managed to leave them in the car when I dropped him and his dad off, kids eh.
  6. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Heading out shortly to the toy fair at Brentwood but the bus rally is now very doubtful as its persisting down. Not helped by the BBC weather forecast putting a label with 'London' over Estuary-Land so I still don't know what the weather will be like.
  7. It might be possible to use the wing mirrors from another model in the range. I am visiting a swap meet/toy fair tomorrow so I'll have a look around for you.
  8. Evening all from Estuary-Land. No sign of the predicted rain yet! No. I think I know the pub, but last time I was down that way I think it had a different name. There was also a garden centre that sold a few very ornate Victorian chimney pots as planters. That was at least 30 years ago.
  9. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Good news about Sandy John. Tony, I've never heard of a pub called 'The Olde Dog' and I live only a stones throw from the hospital, though its probable that I knew it by another name. Not that I'm a great pub goer, my nearest pub, the Owl and the Pussy-cat I haven't ever been inside for at least 25 years.
  10. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Thoughts are with John and Sandy this morning. A lot cooler and fresher this morning but I feel the humidity on the rise. Last nights thunderstorm was quite spectacular, as there was little prospect of sleep I stood at the landing window to watch the display, one advantage of living near the top of a hill with nothing higher between me and Chelmsford. Two events near to me this weekend, the toy fair at Brentwood and the bus rally at Barleylands farm though visiting the latter depends on the weather. Thats it for now, be back later.
  11. Evenig all (again) from Estuary-Land. Very sorry to hear that, in my thoughts as ever. I also had a smattering of rain. I wasn't sure at first as it sounded like rain but there was no sign of it until I realised that the ground (and car) were so warm that the raindrops were evaporating almost immediately.
  12. An excellent souce of information would be 'The Railway Products of Baguley-Drewry' by Allen Civil and Roy Etherington, published by the IRS. (ISBN 9789015564417)
  13. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Took the car in this afternoon to have the ABS warning light sorted, and it was in two minutes flat. Car was plugged into a machine, a few buttons were pressed and hey presto the warning light went out. I also taxed the car for the next year from 1st. of August, only £30 for my car. Thats it for now, be back later.
  14. Morning all from Estuary-Land. The bin wagons dawn chorus is in full swing, the one that requires lubrication was sqealing more than ever. I noticed that the car ABS warning light was on, it appears to have been on since the car was serviced and mot'd but is so dim its almost invisible in the sunlight, so I'll take it in later to see why, probably a loose wire.
  15. Wrong thread? should this be on the driving standards thread?
  16. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Club night tonight but not many there due to holidays and the hot weather. Now to drink some tea, be back later.
  17. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Too hot to do anything today, still 27.5 degrees indoors. Just trying to give the Aussies a false sense of security.
  18. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Best wishes to Sandy and John. I did manage some sleep last night despite the muggy conditions. I was woken by flashes of lightning about two but no thunder or rain. I then looked out the window and saw it was some way off, Chelmsford would be my best estimate. It started in earnest about four hereabouts and with quite heavy rain which cooled things down a bit. Still not too bad at the moment as the house because of its position doesn't get the full blast of the sun until about eleven this time of year. Tea is waiting to be drunk, be back later.
