  1. Morning all from Estuary-Land. A quick hello as I'm off to a swap meet/toy fair shortly, and the kettles boiling.
  2. Evening all from Estuary-Land. I don't usually watch much TV but I found an interesting program on Channel 4 this evening. Its called 'Britain at low tide' and is about the archeology of the tide line (that is the land exposed between high and low tide. I found it very interesting, it covered items from the Bronze age through to a Tudor ship and then on to the Great War port of Richborough and a few other items as well.
  3. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Tidying up of the tip modelling room has continued. Mostly transfering items from one box to another having found some boxes have a lot of empty space and items that belong together are spread over several of the half empty boxes. Despite all the moving and emptying of boxes the room still looks just as cluttered.
  4. The registration GH 200 would be July/August 1930. However some manufacturers offered either steel artillery wheels or wire wheels on their larger models up until the mid thirties (Austin, Hillman, Rover and others). Artillary wheels were retained on light commercials and London taxi's up to WW2 and some London taxi's even had them post war.
  5. Went to a Thai resturant last night. Their meatballs really were the dogs boIIocks. EDIT originally posted on wrong thread.
  6. I went to a Thai resturant last night. Their meatballs really are the dogs boIIocks.
  7. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Only just woke up half an hour ago so running a bit late. The up side is that I'm bright eyed and bushy tailed after a good nights sleep, I wonder how long that will last? Breakfast to be eaten and tea has brewed so its be back later.
  8. I thought that the team of 'None railway modellers' (The train set) acquitted themselves very well, the coastal scene in particular.
  9. Evening again from Estuary-Land. Belated birthday wishes to Beth. Just watched TGMRC to my mind the challenges are a bit too contrived but I think the team that were not modellers done very well but their inexperience showed. Tea to be poured so its be back later.
  10. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Just caught the end of the cricket and now to watch the GMRC.
  11. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Made a start on tidying up the tip modelling room, problem is theres a lot of 'I'd forgotten I had that' about. After all you have to check that everything is still in working order don't you? Tea requires making so its be back later.
  12. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Bright and sunny here this morning and the same predicted for tomorrow if a bit chilly overnight. Going now as W10 wants to do an update.
  13. The GE made do with three driving axles when others had four resulting in the J20. At the time of its introduction the most powerful 0-6-0 built in this country, only surpassed later by the Bulleid Q. (Now there's one that could easily be stretched to 0-8-0).
  14. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Track night went well, I tested a couple of items one of which was taken out of the box for the first time despite being purchased three or four years ago, despite that it ran perfectly. I have a couple of wooden chairs that are about 90 years old and with an interesting history, they were church pews sold off when the church was rebuilt. I might get in touch with them to see if they can be restored.
  15. The PH registration does not appear in my Glass's guide so it must have been issued before 1929.The car appears to be a late 20's model that ties in with the registration.
  16. I passed on those I didn't want and the rest a stashed away somewhere so I'll have to search them out. They are very similar in quality and detail as the Kinder Egg Smart Car. There is no indication as to maker on the models or containers.
  17. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Got to prepare dinner soon as I will be off out to the SEERS meeting tonight. Track night tonight so will have to get there early otherwise it can mean a wait for a track to be free. Tea is ready for pouring so its be back later.
  18. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Just starting to cloud over here, just as predicted in the weather forecast which also predicted a lot of sunshine for most of England, though the cloud will stay in the SE until lunchtime. As I briefly mentioned last night the clubhouse will be closed for 2-3 weeks, its even been suggested that some members could do some modelling in the meantime. Talking of underpinning thats something I wouldn't want to do on a Venetian property, that is why such properties are cheap. Muggatee to be drunk, be back later.
