  1. Much the same as the Rascal/Carry, you arrive at the accident first. The Multipla is quite streamlined compared to the SJ10 which is very much brick shaped. Talking of Multiplas, pictures have appeared on Farcebook of van and pick-up versions. It appears that these were home market only though.
  2. Was that a police car waiting at the top of the slip road at the end of the clip?
  3. I once had a Suzuki SJ10 jeep fitted with bull bars (legally fitted and kept as they were installed before bull bars were banned) and often other drivers decided not to chance their arm on seeing the bull bars. Most common were those who would stick the front of their car out across the white line when pulling out of a side turning. Quite often they beat a hasty retreat, and a couple of times not hasty enough.
  4. My road, a typical 50's/60's urban street is the usual 16' (5 metres) wide. My drive is very narrow and because it would be dangerous to reverse off I have to reverse on. Quite often the same car is parked right opposite my drive and I have to shunt around it to get my own car onto my drive. The woman who drives the car is adamant that it is a parking space despite it being within 10 metres of a road junction.
  5. Morning all from Estuary-Land. The lurgy is fighting back but I'm gradually winning. The Lem-sip capsules were washed down a by the apricot brandy which turned out to be somewhat stronger than the rum. Q, a few of the beers I have are of similar age to the Christmas ale. I have a dozen bottles of Belgian Trappist beer the same age, I tried one last year and it was OK as would be expected of a bottle fermented beer. The ciders were only purchased a couple of years ago and are still in date. At this moment in time I am only drinking tea, time for another mug, be back later.
  6. Love the hot Multipla. I had the SJ10, same 970cc engine but even worse fuel consumption than the Rascal. Almost certainly due to it weighing one and a quarter tons and having the aerodynamics of a brick.
  7. Only its 1/72 scale not 1/76.
  8. IIRC the Suzuki Whizzkid was a 'Kie' car limited to 360 cc, also it was only two cylinders. The engine from the Carry/Rascal was 970 cc and was configured in much the same way as the Imp engine, canted over to the right and of similar external dimensions.
  9. I was offered an Imp Husky several years ago. The problem was the engine was shot. At the time I had a Bedford Rascal and I thought that the engine from that would fit a treat. The problem was with such a high reving engine a extra gear would be useful. The Rascal was basically a re-badged Suzuki Carry, indeed some of them left the Luton assembly plant badged as Suzuki's.
  10. The vast majority of children attending shows are well behaved, those that aren't do not get invited again. When I take my friend to a show because he is a single parent we nearly always have his young son with us. The lad has never once let us down by misbehaving, in fact he is so well behaved that he often gets invited to operate layouts at shows.
  11. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. After using the last of the rum last night I delved into the drinks cabinet to see if there was any suitable distilates to go with the Lem-sips. I found a bottle of C********s ale dated 2004, a nearly full bottle of Contreau liqueur and half a bottle of Apricot Brandy. I don't know how old they are but I'm pretty sure they pre date the bottle of ale. There was also bottles of port and Martini that I may possibly have inherited from my parents and which date back to before 1980. I have a few bottles of beer, cider and wine around the house, I will have to do a booze audit though a lot of it will have to be poured away. The thing is I now drink very little if any alcohol so I will end up giving most of it away.
  12. The same principle as a rice flail?
  13. Morning all from Estuary-Land. The lurgy is still hanging about but last night the Lem-sip and rum kept it at bay but that was the last of the rum so I'll have to get some more. Thoughts are with John and Sandy and congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Rick. Thats it for now, be back later.
  14. I have a white metal kit built Hibbard shunter similar in size to the Ruston. At the moment it runs on a Tenshodu spud unit. I will be checking to see if I can fit the Ruston chassis to it. As for the spare Ruston body perhaps fit it with an unmotorised chassis, remove the cab and run it with another Ruston as a slave unit. For that matter one could use two engines back to back with one cab removed as a master and slave unit.
  15. I did read somewhere (Britmodeller?) that the Airfix Cromwell was about a scale foot too long though all the other dimentions are correct for 1/76 scale.
  16. A lot would depend the dynamics of the accident. If the tram was struck a few inches either side of the impact point it may have stayed on the rails.
  17. It depends upon whether the diff is reversable. The Volkswagen transaxle was easy you just had to flip the diff over. It was not unknown for a beetle after gearbox work to have one very low forward gear and four evenly spaced reverse gears. This was because the VW vans had step down gears in the hubs to lower the gear ratio and raise the ground clearance, the driveshafts rotated backwards.
  18. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Not done a lot today.
  19. I had a few of the old Hornby-Dublo ones that I passed on to another RMweb member.
  20. I daren't look in the back of my fridge now.
  21. And they put it up against Strictly come Dancing! Mind you on Fridays it was up against The Great British Bake-off which topped the viewing charts for Friday and it acquited itself well. This coming Friday it would also have clashed with the UEFA 2020 qualifying match, the Czech Republic v. England, that also may have prompted the decision to change the day.
  22. I've thought about similar conversions to the Imp. What gearbox does he intend to use? I assume he's also putting the radiator up front.
  23. Morning all from Estuary-Land. It sure bucketed down last night but now its dry. But for how long? I still have the lurgy so last night was a couple of Lem-sip capsules washed down with a drop of rum. The result was 7 hours solid sleep. I feel a lot better but the lurgy is still lingering. Thats it for now, be back later.
