  1. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Overslept this morning by about 45 minutes so in bit of a rush. John, I cant add any advice to what has been given here but on occaisions in my work I've had to deal with bereavement from the other side and its not easy but one has to give as much sympathy and understanding as one can in what is sometimes tragic circumstances. Chris, I hope you find your new slow cooker usefull but the usual food safety rules have to be applied rigorously such as do not reheat things like chicken. I once had a slow cooker and reheated chicken in it, I won't go into the grim details but thats how I know. Different regulations in different countries. (Smiffy lives in France.)
  2. I meant produced already fitted to the body sides in the factory.
  3. Could not things such as duckets be produced as an add on with two possibly three different styles? Hattons are going to offer different roof furniture and battery boxes according to the type of lighting depicted.
  4. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Reading Johns blog I've got something in my eye. Thats all for now, be back later.
  5. To mix the periods up even more you could have 3 plank wagons, standard BR brake vans, VDA vans or TTA 100 ton tank wagons depending on the era.
  6. The tube stock would require some match trucks between them and the class 20's.
  7. The LOR trailer cars were not much longer if at all than most other six wheel stock. Perhaps you could take one of the six wheelers and mount it on a couple of short wheelbase bogies?
  8. My thoughts are with you John, there seems to be something in my eye too.
  9. I was told not to wear my scary mask. What scary mask?
  10. Morning all from Estuary-Land. This mornings post had a questionaire from the B****t party. I was about to bin it when I noticed that it had a freepost address so I'm sending it back to Nigel Farage with a note reminding him not to drop litter. A rather unusual model arrived in the same post, its of a satellite. It comes in a very small box and clips together. If your coming by car avoid the A13 at the moment, its one long building site from the Orsett Cock to Stamford-le-Hope. Thoughts as allways with John and Sandy, be back later.
  11. Apparently its common practice were and when neccessary to use suitable blocking vehicles when making films. It doesn't come any cheaper and has the advantage of a suitable vehicle for transporting and storing props. A few pics of such vehicles have appeared in the Facebook group Just British vans and pick-ups. One of them is of an similar bodied Bedford CA in the same colours as the CF. Perhaps they both belong to the same film/hire company?
  12. There is a NLR brake 3rd body at Chappel that has a raised floor under the birdcage section beneath which is a dog box for canine passengers. There is a film of similar vintage to Compound2632's post above showing a NLR train with the guard clearly visible standing in the birdcage.
  13. The Leyland Worldmasters were intended for Cuba, the ship carrying them ended up on its side after a collision. The Americans made strong objections to the sale of these buses and there were, and still are suspicions about the accident. They were originally fitted with dual door bus bodywork. Some of the less damaged ones did go to Cuba after they were recovered and repaired. Those that went to Smiths the original bodies were badly damaged and were scrapped. A couple of the buses were reported to have survived in Cuba but its doubtful that they are in use.
  14. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Things are a bit hectic at the club house this evening. The builders have finished their work which required the removal of a stud wall. It was our intention to remove the wall anyway but at a later date so it means other alterations can take place such as turning a short corridor leading to one of the two rooms (that are now one) into a useful storage space. Next week a bit lot of sanding down and painting to be done. I bought my Hyundai new 11 years ago and only now am I considering changing it. Not because of any problems but simply that I need a larger car.
  15. Film companies use large vans as 'blockers', placed in front of modern advertising signs, shop fronts etc. that are not appropiate to the period of what is being filmed. This is almost certainly the role of the Bedford CF with its rather oversize van body.
  16. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Last week I had to miss club night due to a heavy cold. As the club had been closed due to building repair work I haven't attended for four weeks. Also I have some important information to give to the treasurer so I've got to get there tonight. We of course know better. (Lifted from GMRC thread.) What else did they get up to in the woods?
  17. You obviously do not follow the Early Risers thread on Wheeltappers.

I shouldn't worry about blackened tyrels not picking up power. The metal is oxidised which shouldn't affect current flow.
  19. Thats a wind up. There must be a lot of people after you then? (debt collectors, police etc.)
  20. Its the same everywhere, I even have difficulty getting off my drive due to it being surrounded by illegally parked cars (my drive is within 10 metres of a road junction).
