  1. I suggested the same several pages of this thread ago. Also that an unpainted version of each moulding/casting be produced. The issue of unpainted/unmarked models in the diecast world has been quite successful.
  2. This year on the 18th of November will have been my dads 100th birthday. The clippie involved in the incident was not prosecuted as it was in self defence. As you said, tough ladies.
  3. Evening all from Estuary-Land. When I went into Tesco's today the Royal British Legion had there table there for remembrance day. As well as the usual poppies and lapel badges they had a box of crocheted poppies. The RBL ladies had spent the last few months crocheting these poppies. Each and every one was different varying slightly in size, shape and colour. Mine is the same only it only ever shows the electricity. The meter certainly wasn't working when it was installed 6 months ago but now working. The next quarters bill is due very soon so I will have to check that.
  4. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Sadly the person trapped in the chimney has died before he could be rescued. He's now a candidate for a Darwin award. I got in touch with my energy supplier re. my not-so-smart gas meter. Apparently it is working after all except that its not telling me how much gas I'm using. Time to get the dinner on, be back later.
  5. That reminds me of when I was caught in a blizzard (white out) coming south on the M6 between Manchester and Birmingham. The only lane that was usable was the middle lane where everyone was moving at no more than 40 mph. Then two cars shot past in the outside lane at twice that speed. Both were white, racing each other bumper to bumper. About half an hour later I passed them both piled up on the centre reservation with the drivers standing forlornly alongside.
  6. The Royal British Legion are out selling poppies in the lead upto remembrance day. Locally they are offering crocheted poppies, I wonder where they got the idea from?
  7. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Bright and sunny this morning, the frost had gone by the time I drew the curtains back. That reminds me of when my dad was on the buses about 55 years ago. One of the clippies always carried the Setright by the strap instead of over her shoulder. One Saturday night a drunk tried to attack her. To protect herself she swung the Setright and he caught it with his face.
  8. The trolls do not need feeding, they need something to keep them occupied. I will check to see if I have any bags of rivets for them to count.
  9. I agree entirely, I will repeat what has been said often on this thread. These are GENERIC if that doesn't suit you its just too bad.
  10. Evening all (again) from Estuary-Land. Ironically most of the baked beans consumed in the UK are grown in the USA. I just realised, and had to confirm with the organiser that the trip to Warley will be on the Sunday as there was I assuming it was Saturday. Not a great problem except I might miss a few ER's.
  11. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Sound of fireworks this evening but not the yobbo's setting them off but the local Indian community celebrating Diwali. Its a bit chilly this evening, time to crankup the heating methinks. Thats all for now, be back later.
  12. The viewing figures will be interesting, any chance of a comparison with last years figures?
  13. Just a thought, instead of a match truck anyone considered a 'master and slave' using two locomotives wired together back to back with one cab (and motor?) removed?
  14. When I lived in Burnham-on-Crouch I used to see a late 40's Lancia Aprilla used as a daily driver.
  15. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Had an extra lie-in/soak-in this morning. Probably much the same next Sunday as it usually takes my body clock a couple of weeks to adjust. Bright and sunny out if a tad chilly but at least it keeps Arthur Itis out of the way. Tea to be poured so its be back later.
  16. Due to alterations to trackwork its isolated. Its also probably rusted to the rails now, some preservationists have shown interest but its too difficult/expensive to get it out.
  17. Or as they do in France, have two speed limits the lower one for bad weather.
  18. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Busy day today, arrived at the toy fair just as news of Englands success at the RWC came through. Made a few purchases mostly of diecasts including a very nice model of a combine harvester. Apparently it came from a French partwork and is very well detailed with cab interior and reat view mirrors. It is scaled somewhere between 00 and H0 scales, probably 1/80. The vendor informed me that it was made by Universal Hobbies who make some very good diecast tractors but not often to a scale compatible with model railways. Thats it for now, be back later.
  19. Morning all from Estuary-Land. A quick hello as I'm off shortly to the toy fair, be back later.
  20. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Finally managed to catch up after the internet outage yesterday. Still blowing a hooley outside but no sign of rain yet and Arthur Itis is not giving any notifications of same. According to the forecast the rain will arrive late morning but clear by tomorrow night.
