  1. Thats good, I pre-ordered one and paid the deposit.
  2. Is politicians free only the living ones?
  3. Quite common up until about 1960 as were Morris 8's and Ford Y's. The big cull of such cars came from the introduction of the MoT in 1959. That also resulted in vast numbers of old cars being abandoned on waste ground or even at the kerb.
  4. Morning all from Estuary-Land. A bit late on parade this morning due to Railway Bylines dropping onto the mat earlier this morning. Its now under new ownership (but the same editorial staff). New broom and all that the first change is that instead of the plastic wrapper it came in a plain brown envelope . The other change is an additional centre section devoted to model railways. I usually receive the WFA in early December, and the letter informing me that I am about to receive it about two weeks later. I will be at Warley tomorrow and I have marked on the plan were to find the ER's who are participating in the show and will be popping along to say hello.
  5. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Having spent most of my working life in payroll I can't resist having a chuckle at the goings on mentioned above. On average a new system was not up and running with all the bugs ironed out for at least a year. My last line manager would not hold back on forcibly telling those above what he thought of some systems. They tried to fob us off with a version of the Phoenix system or something similar, my manager instructed the senior management to put it where the sun doesn't shine.
  6. I didn't know there was a bag drop off point. I have to use a walker at shows now, it usually ends up festooned with bags although for a show this size I'm bringing a fold up trolley as well.
  7. Rupert Murdoch runs this country as well.
  8. As an OAP I can say it doesn't happen very often. Like Father Christmas only once a year.
  9. Very well put but it won't stop them complaining. I've no doubt that some are already designing overlays and other bits and pieces to alter these coaches once they are available.
  10. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Now I've got a plan of the Warley exhibition I can plan on what stands to visit and in what order. I will be packing a few snacks and drinks as I don't know what sort of catering is available, someone mentioned Spoons but with a young child in tow that is out. Tea to be mashed, be back later.
  11. Now there's another 'imaginary' subject, liveries. I think that instead of Rail Blue they should have kept the maroon which would have gone well with Rail Grey. The blue/grey combination allways seemed 'cold' to my eye.
  12. Just printed a couple of copies off (one for a friend). On mine I will mark those of particular interest to me. I've packed a magnifying glass.
  13. Is there somewhere I can find a floor plan for the exhibition?
  14. Its amazing what a bit of T-Cut can achieve.
  15. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Overslept this morning, didn't wake up until gone eight but now catching up. Up in time to check the forecast for the weekend, a bit damp tomorrow but Sunday looks clear and dry crucially between here and Warley. If the oppotunity of the coach trip hadn't come up I would not have even considered going to Warley, I last went to Warley about 25 years ago when the model railway club hired a mini-coach, that was cheaper because the minicoach driver was also a club member and gave his services for free. I've been to Ally Pally a couple of times and I'm thinking of going in the new year. C&C's where neccessary, be back later.
  16. Even worse at night when they leave their dipped headlights on. Illegal but never enforced.
  17. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Getting prepared for Warley, I've got a note of the stands where ER's are to be found. I will be there Sunday, not sure of what time I will arrive but unless theres a hold up it should be before 11. Be back later.
  18. That was my take on the matter. Some commuters can be a selfish and inconsiderate at times. IIRC The line in question is single track with passing places and may not have the capacity for longer or extra trains.
  19. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. A lot of froth being created (again) on the Hatton's generic coaches thread. A lot of it because some do not seem to understand the word 'generic'. I'll go back there once all the froth has blown away. Time to prepare dinner, be back later.
  20. Morning all from Estuary-Land. The bin wagons dawn chorus is in full swing this morning, including the lesser spotted glass and bottle wagon. Chris, have you considered driving to Holyhead and booking the car onto the ferry and spending a few days touring? Or for that matter whatever public transport you use spend a few extra days there anyway, you might even get to kiss the Blarney Stone.
