  1. Because the locomotives were not green with copper capped chimneys perhaps?
  2. I have PM'd you with a few suggestions but I will make a few general points here. Many exhibition managers have an aversion to large layouts. This has several reasons, lack of space, transport costs and why have just one layout when you can get two or three in the same space? On the up side at Alley Pally theres a good chance of Chinese tourists visiting the show.
  3. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Chris mentioning WFA reminded me that my letter re. the same arrived on Monday. As the letter usually arrives after the money has entered my account I will have to check my monthly statement when that arrives in a few days time. Yesterday an item arrived in my spam folder telling me that there was a problem with my TSB account. The only problem from my point of view is that I hav never had a TSB account so in the spam folder it stayed, but not before blocking the sender.
  4. The abandoned bridge to the right and the one below the current bridge appear to be part of an abandoned line. Would this be the original railway or another line altogether?
  5. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Done my bit this evening (painting) on restoring the club house. We are losing one of our longest standing members, his house was compulsory purchased for redevelopement and the compensation was not enough to purchase a similar property. So he and his wife are off to their new home, a bungalow in deepest Wales early next week. He has a number of layouts most of which will be making the journey to Wales but one layout has been donated to the club.
  6. Just a thought, the Irish railways continued using four and six wheel stock even into the diesel era. What about some Irish liveries?
  7. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. As I live on my own I allways carry a spare front door key. However when I changed upon returning from the NEC on Sunday I couldn't find it. So today I had another cut so whats the chances of it turning up right under my nose? Club night tonight but before I go there I have to go to the sorting office to collect a parcel. I have a postal vote and the voting papers arrived this morning and will be filled in and returned forthwith.
  8. Mind you if it was the same models......
  9. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Surprisingly perhaps it is bright and sunny here at the moment, hope it lasts. I remember the car shows from the 70's when the models were scantily dressed, thats if they were dressed at all. Though at a model railway exhibition today that would probably cause quite a few heart attacks.
  10. I just run over their foot with the walker.
  11. That would be the poor pooch laying on its back with all four legs in the air.
  12. There was a spare ticket where someone had dropped out. I informed another RMwebber who lives in South Benfleet but he declined and the ticket went unused.
  13. Evening all from Estuary-Land. The new watch only took 20 minutes to get enough charge to get started. Tomorrow I will have to study the destructions to work it properly, and find out how to adjust the metal strap.
  14. It was with the Shoeburyness club who invited members of other clubs and organisations. The coach started from Shoeburyness and made the last pickup here in Basildon. It was due to their show being cancelled due to a mix up by their venue with the bookings they decided to organise the trip as a one off. I did discuss the possibility with the club secretary about other trips and there might be something next year. I'm not sure if they were working, both myself and another chap went through them pushing walkers without so much as a peep from the scanners.
  15. But who won the award for smelliest attending the show?
  16. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Instead of venturing out later I decided to go down to Argos for my new watch. It is now sitting under a lamp getting charged which according to the handbook should take 40 minutes, so I'll give it an hour at least. Now its Muggatee time, be back later.
  17. It was a last minute trip and 180 miles each way from south Essex where I live and I couldn't justify the cost of an overnight stay.

  19. Actually I found it a bit too big. This was my first visit for about 20 years and in those years I've become older and slower. As I came with an organised coach party my time at the exhibition was limited to about six hours which meant that I was unable to visit all the layouts and trade stands that I wanted to. This is in no way critical of the show or organisers as IMHO it was a very good show, just that I now cannot justify going to such large shows.
