  1. I walked into the kitchen as the wife was preparing breakfast. Much to my surprise she grabbed hold of me and we made wild passionate love. I then asked her what made her so frisky, she said "The egg timers broken."
  2. Evening all from Estuary-Land. As Tony said it doesn't get very cold here, its because of the tidal estuaries that abound in Essex. This means that Essex has the second longest coastline of the English counties and all that moving water raises the temperature by a degree or two. When I lived in Burnham-on-Crouch if it snowed we would only get a dusting in the town and within half a mile of the river but several inches elsewhere.
  3. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Almost forgot to visit Smiffs for my copy of Back Track, normally I would have got it last week but I was up at Warley. The host server is playing up a bit, I've had one time out this evening and RMweb is rather slow so I'ii be off until later.
  4. I'd be more worried about some of the substances used to preserve the sleepers.
  5. I would like to see round topped doors as fitted to Metropolitan stock. I appreciate that to have the tooling adjusted or new tooling to produce such a variation is just not viable. If I wanted to go down that route I will have to accept either etched or 3D printed replacement sides. What you are proposing, altering both the ends and roof is even less viable.
  6. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Glad to hear that GDB is recovering from his episode and wishing him a happy birthday. A bit of a late riser this morning. my excuse is that last Sunday I was up before sparrow fart to go to Warley and I'm making up for it. Now to catch up on the rest of the day, be back later.
  7. Evening all from Estuary-Land. First off I hope its nothing serious Bob, make the most of it and put your feet up. I've done sod all today and apart from a bit of shopping I will do sod all tomorrow.
  8. Aircraft flying to and from the Southend air show used to follow the line of the River Thames/A13. One evening after the show I saw a microlite flying towards London followed shortly afterwards by the Red Arrows at more or less the same height. I often wonder what happened when they caught up with the microlite.
  9. Is 58050 still in Spain? I understood as the very last locomotive built for/by British Rail it was earmarked for preservation and due to be returned home when it was no longer needed in Spain.
  10. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Overslept this morning but not a problem as its a 'stay at home' weekend. A friends solution to a toolbox opening in transit was to strap an old leather belt around it.
  11. Why not ask a manufacturer such as Rapido what they can do with your £5,000. They will probably add a nought or two to that amount before you to get your different roof and ends.
  12. Evening all from Estuary-Land. I don't know about black Friday and care even less. There were no more punters than usual at Tess Coes this lunchtime so I assume most people think the same. Next Tuesday is the last SEERS night of the year so I got a few nibbles to share out during the tea break. Its also test track night and I will be taking my latest acquisitions from Warley for a run.
  13. The few standard gauge mechanically powered locomotives around during the Great War were not powerfull enough to move one of these guns. However there is a photograph of a Dean Goods in military service fitted with side tanks and condensing equipment. However this particular photograph dates from just after D-day and was taken at Cherbouge of wagons being hauled from an LST. Thats not to say there wasn't similar or the same used in WW1.
  14. I have the Ruston liveried one and I acquired the Dewars one at Warley. I've also got the Army one on order.
  15. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Bright and sunny this morning and it looks as if its here for the weekend and into next week as well. Still recovering from the exertions of last weekend just as well theres no shows etc. this weekend. Wishing you all a good POETS day, be back later.
  16. Perhaps it would help if instead of publishing the program in stand order the traders and layouts had there own lists. If the layouts were listed separately with a brief description visitors to the exhibition will have a better idea of what layouts are there. Some exhibitions list the layouts on display in the calender entry in Railway Modeller, I have found this very useful when visiting exhibitions and I somtimes have visited shows just to view a particular layout.
  17. I see that there's a few there that don't understand the word generic as well.
  18. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Had an excellent pic show from one of the members at the SEERS evening. Some quite interesting unpublished loco pics from the 1930's. Its been very slow this evening but that explains it.
  19. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. I often check out the none food reduced to clear shelf at my local Tesco. Today I picked up a battered box of four LED lightbulbs for £3.25, a quarter of the price. Got to get on now, SEERS tonight and got to get ready.
