Evening all from Estuary-Land. The lurgi appears to be in retreat today but the blocked sinuses are still causing headaches. Still decided to give the club a miss tonight, I don't want to spread it about. I told my energy supplier months ago that I didn't have any reading on my newly installed 'smart' gas meter. They informed me that they had a reading and everything was ok. I have just received the latest bill which apparently shows my gas usage as zero! I will be getting in touch with them in the morning about it. Just as well I have kept all the correspondance of when I informed them that the meter wasn't working. Its possible that the meter is working but not transmitting the data but you'd think that someone would have queried the zero figure by now.

The pair of corvids I espied at a distance last week I have now identified as crows. I thought that they might be ravens but they are definitely crows if rather large ones.

Back in my drinking days it was reckoned that more than 1.5 pints of beer put you over the then limit. The limit has since been reduced making anything more than a pint of beer (or equivalent) being enough to put you over the limit. Mind you back in those days my usual drinking holes were within walking/staggering distance of home and I used public transport to take me to work.

Morning all from Estuary-Land. Welcome back Andy and hopefully the dark hound will be back in its kennel soon as. The lurgi is still with me so I will probably give the model railway club a miss tonight especially as its predicted to be raining heavily and theres a twenty yard dash from the car park to the door without any shelter. Still have to go out later to stock up on supplies but it should be staying dry until late this afternoon, the lurgi doesn't seem to like the fresh air. Thats it for now, be back later.

Evening all from Estuary-Land. I didn't attend the commitee meeting tonight though I feel better the lurgi is still causing coughs and sniffles so its better not to pass it on. An interesting item on Farcebook re. the Dingle station of the Liverpool Overhead Railway. As most of you are probably aware the station which is in a tunnel became a car workshop until the tunnel collapsed in 2006 trapping several vehicles in there including some classics. Those vehicles are still there and some are in reasonable condition though they might have to be craned out through the old tunnel entrance which is twenty feet above the ground.

A Rover P5b and a Morris Minor. The Humber and the Rover look salvable. Some of the other cars seem to be suffering from peeling paint but rust doesn't seem to be a problem. The second option would be cheaper. The GER on most platforms only had the area where milk churns would have been loaded/unloaded, but the GER was never a very wealthy company so that might have been for economy. They were used on things like cattle docks. Ratio make a GWR cattle dock kit and IIRC the platform surface is the brick style sets so perhaps it would be an idea to check one out.

The disused down platform at Burnham-on-Crouch (GER) had them and pretty obviously they were original dating back to the opening of the line in 1887.

Seeing the illustration of the Express Dairy one shunting an old 7-plank wagon I wonder if there's a suitable body to replace the flat wagon body? Also, is there a milk tanker available in Express Dairy colours? I seem to remember grey or silver tanks with dark blue lettering.

Evening all from Estuary-Land. The sniffle I've had for the past week or so has developed into a full blown lurgi with the appropiate coughs and sneezes. A Lem-sip fortified with spiritual falling down water is on the cards for before I go to bed.

That surface looks very like the brick paving used where a none slip hard wearing surface is required. Though in the picture it appears to cover most if not all of the platform it is often only used where neccessary such as where milk churns are handled.
