  1. Evening all from Estuary-Land. I don't know where the days gone as I haven't done anything other than a bit of shopping. Now for a mug of tea, be back later.
  2. I've had a similar experience, only I was on the slip road behind the idiot. There was heavy traffic on the road that I was trying to enter and it was fortunate that there was a gap at the right moment. If that gap wasn't there at the right time there would have been an accident.
  3. As many of you are probably aware during WW2 most if not all London Transport buses as well as the white painted mudguards and platforms had a white circle painted on the rear panel. Many suggestions have been put forward for this so here is mine. Most military trucks of the period had the differential painted white to aid convoy driving in the blackout. In an emergency, such as a German invasion buses would be commandered by the army and the white circle would help in convoys. This is also why trolleybuses were not so treated.
  4. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Had a lay-in this morning followed by a bath soak-in. Now for a late breakfast. Laze E. Buqqer.
  5. That was the post war Militant with the AV690 engine.
  6. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Decidedly cold outside with a brilliantly clear sky, frost is settling on the car already. Good thing is thar Arthur Itis doesn't like this weather and is in hiding at the moment.

  8. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Had a pleasurable afternoon shopping in Rayleigh, even more so as apparently parking is free after 1 pm on Saturdays. Found a couple of (none-railway) books on the book stall and I also purchased a new wallet as my current one is getting a bit frayed about the edges. We then went to Battlesbridge where my friend disposed of quite a few modelling tokens. Thats it for now folks, dinners ready, toad-in-the-hole.
  9. The lad is 11 but has a mental age of only 7 or 8. He wouldn't be allowed out on public footpaths or roads on the scooter anyway without supervision. I was asking if such a scooter was regarded the same as a bicycle in the legal sense and it appears that all scooters are. He did ask for an electric scooter but for many reasons apart from the legal ones that was a no-no. When he tried the treadle scooter he was won over completely.
  10. Another good way to date a photograph, if there isn't a cinema in the shot.
  11. A question about bikes/footpaths. My friends young son had a scooter for Christmas. Its not an ordinary scooter as the footboard is a treadle which by moving it up and down propels the scooter so like a bicycle the riders feet do not have to touch the ground to propel it. So would it be considered the same as a bicycle?
  12. I had a problem after the last update, Firefox 'froze' and I coulded even close a tab. Luckily I use other hosts as some websites work better with them. I thought at first it was to do with the W10 update but as it turned out it was an update from Firefox. I had to shut down the Firefox completely and then set it up again but now I have to set up all my tabs again.
  13. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Bright and sunny here this morning but C-O-L-D. Condolences Dave on the loss of your friend, the big C is a buqqer of a disease. Not much else to report, be back later.
  14. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Paying a visit to Rayleigh tomorrow afternoon. There's a stall in the covered market that has remaindered books, many on transport subjects so I'm going to see what he's got. Afterwards its up to Battlesbridge to the model railway emporium there. Thats it for now, be back later.
  15. Be careful with Benylin as it might cause side effects if you mix it with some other medicines. Best ask your pharmacist first.
  16. The more you look the more gems you find. At 00:05 there is a Berkley 3 wheeler (on the left, bright red). An Austin A35 at 00:18 and a Minx based Commer Cob van at 00:50.
  17. Up until WW2 the Metropolitan operated Pullman cars.
  18. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. The lurgi is trying to fight back so I have stocked up on Lem-sips and Caledonian falling down water (of the cheap cooking variety). As here >> https://www.facebook.com/SilverSurfers50/photos/a.425990670754996/2871111652909540/?type=3&theater
  19. Thats the point, the person assumed it was a George VI coin.
  20. Nearly forgot, I mentioned recently about Edward VIII coins. Its reported this morning that an Edward VIII gold sovereign has gone for £million at auction. Like the 3d pieces only eight were produced but all were accounted for. As for the one pennies they were rare but not that rare, quite a number were circulated but as people collected them they became less common in circulation. One of my colleagues on the post office counter told me of one customer who refused an Edward VIII penny in his change because "Its a fake as the kings head is facing the wrong way.".
  21. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Quite bright this morning but the odd shower predicted for later. Actually I did avert my eyes. A case of having to as it was raining and I'm as blind as a bat without my glasses. Their next door neighbour who was also helping had a big grin on his face.
