  1. There is a bespoke furniture business operating from the site that is what the workshop is for.
  2. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Slept in and soaked in (the bath) this morning so a bit late on parade. A bit grey this morning but dry with the threat of the odd shower. George Takei (Mr. Sulu) is already reaching for a lawyer.
  3. Just realised after looking at the pics that its still got the very long platform. A few coaches would make a great layout room.
  4. I see it has a cellar used as an office, make a good layout room?
  5. Station for sale >> http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-88570877.html
  6. Wish I had £465,000 http://rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-88570877.html
  7. Its an auction sale notice from a Victorian newspaper for 18 bullocks, only the typesetter used an o instead of a u.
  8. I noticed the 'nicotine yellow' bands painted around some of the lamp posts. Could these be the remnants of the blackout precautions? (white paint turned yellow.) I didn't see much in the way of bombsites living in an area of post-war developement, but when I visited my maternal grandparents house in St. Leonards there were a couple in their street. I discovered later that one in particular was the result of the Baedecker Raids. Another more enduring wartime vestage between St. Leonards and Bexhill was the tank traps built at the top of the beach parallel to the railway line.
  9. If your not on Facebook you might not be able to see it.
  10. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Caught up on 'Death in Paradise' this afternoon, pretty good, I couldn't work out who the villains were. Time for dinner, be back later.
  11. Morning all from Estuary-Land. I used to start and finish early, 8 to 4 instead of 9 till 5. That ment I'd arrive at work just as the morning rush was starting and going home slotted neatly between school turn out time and the start of the rush. My employers were happy as well as it spread the hours when there was someone there to cover. Grey and overcast as it has been for the last few days with a bit of drizzle in the air. Muggatee awaits, be back later.
  12. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Had a bit of good news from my niece this evening just before I went out. My brother is home from hospital despite another two hours on the operating table. If I have gotten rid of the lurgi next Friday I might pay him a visit. The meeting tonight was a washout as the guest speaker failed to show. He probably had a good reason that we will find out in due course.

  14. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. A SEERS meeting tonight. A talk by a retired BTP officer about various accidents he has been involved in the investigations thereof, sounds interesting. BIN day today but the bin wagons must have been in stealth mode as the bin bags were there one minute and gone the next. Kettle is ready so its be back later.
  15. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Its almost twelve years since I retired but I still wake up about six in the morning, my usual time when I was working. However I now just roll over and snooze for another hour or so. This morning however I overdid the snooze and didn't get up until half past eight. Now for muggatee # 2, be back later.
  16. Gas or petrol. The answers simple, gasoline and petrol were trade names that were adopted for the product in general. Rather like vacumn cleaners are refered to as hoovers but unlike hoover neither name crossed the Atlantic.
  17. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Club night tonight and the revised date of our exhibition this year has been settled. It will be the 31st. of October (half term) for one day only. It will be at our usual venue in Laindon, the James Hornsby School. You only have to take a medical and eye test if you want to keep 'grandfather' rights. Thats minibuses up to 17 seats and GVW of 7.5 tonnes. You are still able to drive vehicles with up to 7 seats or 3.5 tonnes GVW without taking a medical/eye test. You just have to declare that you are fit. My dad also had track laying vehicles on his licence. He had passed his test before joining the army but as a driver/mechanic he was expected to drive anything and everything.
  18. Just needs a sound unit with the sound of cooing pigeons.
  19. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Still trying to sort out my gas bill. I've still no idea of what gas I'm using nine months after the not-so-smart meter was installed. I still suspect that it is not being recorded and that no one has made a thorough check so I've asked for the meter readings on which my statement is based. I still suspect that someone in Octopus Energy is going to have an O sh!t moment when they check the figures.
  20. Happy birthday Mick. Just had a call from my sister. She told me that my brother was still in Barts after his heart op. What has happened is a build up of fluid around his heart. He was instructed to take exercise after his op by walking to the end of the ward and back. This he didn't do because by the time he got to the end of the bed he was out of breath (due to the fluid around his heart). Problem was he didn't tell the medical staff about it so he's in Barts for the foreseeable future with another op to clear the fluid, what an idiot.
  21. In old money thats 9" by 4.5", the same size as a standard housebrick.
