  1. Afternoon all from a decidedly damp Estuary-Land. The rain was quite heavy half an hour ago but its eased off quite a bit now. At least its sorted the hay fever though my hay fever is nowhere near as bad as Ricks. A couple of items arrived in today's post, some models and a book on railways that to my great delight has some very good maps and plans.
  2. Just took a peek at the aforementioned Exhibitions Cancelled thread, one to be avoided if at all possible. I don't know why Baz bothers dealing with the chronically thick. From my own point of view I've written off 2020 where exhibitions/toy fairs to be visited are concerned, well at least until the end of the year.
  3. Morning all from Estuary-Land. I seem to have 'missed' the the RMweb down time this morning all I noticed is only one page of ER's instead of two or more. The rain predicted for today will apparently not now happen until the early morning hours so I've got no excuse for not finishing emptying the garden storage box. No news yet as to when the new shed will arrive, I gather that they are made to order so it might be a couple of weeks yet. Tea to be drunk, be back later.
  4. Evening all from Estuary-Land. My copy of Bylines arrived today with another item by ChrisF within its pages, well researched as usual. I'll be setting up my newly restored 'old' computer in the morning, it looks as if it might be a bit damp outside tomorrow so emptying the garden store will have to wait another day, Excuse my ignorance but what does PNW stand for?

  6. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Just got in from collecting my old computer, all sorted and ready to go, I'm still using the 'spare' at the moment as I will have to recover a lot stuff like passwords before I start using it. The fan seems to be working OK on this machine now so fingers crossed.
  7. This is not political, you will see why when you reach the last line.
  8. Just stand under a shower ripping up £20 notes instead.
  9. Just had a bit of bad news. One of our SEERS members passed away last night. Whether or not it was due to covid 19 or not I cannot say. He was in his 80's and had been ill for some time.
  10. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Happy anniversary Jamie and Beth. According to the forecasters its going to be a hot one today so work in clearing out the storage box will have to wait another day when the hay fever has subsided. Time to run a bath, be back later.
  11. The fan on this computer has suddenly sprung into life again. Still going to get it checked out as its still very noisy.
  12. Evening all from Estuary-Land. The computer shut down earlier, not from overheating but because of a low battery, I'd forgotten to switch the charger on. The fan has not come back to life but more like trying to come out of a coma, it tries to start but only runs for a second or two so I'm going to switch off for a while.
  13. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. My computer will be ready in a couple of days time after an upgrade and removal of a few bits slowing it down. I thought this was worth sharing It could but I assumed that it was switched off for passwords. There were other features that I didn't like about it such as the small screen.
  14. Love it, I'd like to make a copy.
  15. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Had a bit of a sniffle this morning from the hay fever but its clearing up now. Why not use a kneeling pad? In my case its not getting down on my knees thats a problem its getting up again! I binned the I-pad because of the dreaded predictive text/spill chucker. It might be useful but not when it acts on your passwords. I ended up locked out of my E-mails and I'm more used to Microsoft with all its foibles. But some stupidity can affect an enormous number of people. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-dorset-52867140
  16. Evening all from Estuary-Land. I did try an I-pad but no thanks, its now laying dead in the back of a cupboard. I've noticed that if this computer is getting a bit too warm it starts to slow down so I switch it off for half an hour. I should be getting my other computer back soon but it will be handy to have both computers as this one is more powerful but uses more battery power. Tea is brewing so its be back later.
  17. I went back to the storage box to start moving the rest of the tiles. In front of the tiles was a large sack of grout. The sack was heavy paper with a plastic lining. Though the box was perfectly dry the snails had got in and had eaten the paper (and many of the cardboard boxes containing the tiles) but the plastic inner seemed to be intact. However when I went to move it the plastic split. Luckily very little if any was spilt so I've left it until I can decant the grout to a suitable container. I spent the rest of the afternoon clearing the garden path, I now have a pile of grass cuttings, roots and moss with a little soil that will be consigned to the compost.
  18. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Having given the computer a break it seems to be OK at the moment. I've been busy emptying the garden storage box and I've found a few 'lost' items as well as some other useful items that I didn't know I had. The box was used principally for storing some ceramic floor tiles intended for the kitchen. I am halfway through moving them out and feeling cream crackered already. Fortunately the weather forecast is dry for the rest of the week. Its back to shifting tiles soon after a muggatee or two and a bite of lunch, be back later.
