  1. Afternoon/evening all from Estuary-Land. All this talk of tea and no one AFAIK has mentioned warming the pot. An essential part of making a pot of tea IMHO. I also use 'real' tea, the sort that comes as loose tea not in bags that are the work of the devil. So called fine leaf is almost as bad being ground to dust, the water must be allowed to circulate amongst the leaves so large leaf it must be. I use a teapot with an infuser, which makes using leaf tea as easy as tea bags. Another reason for not using tea bags is that they are nearly all made of plastic, bad for the environment as many councils will not allow them to be put in the green waste and they have to go for landfill. You can get infusers now that fit into a mug so you can now make a single mug of tea without resorting to tea bags. Collected the car this afternoon, its now MOT'd for another year. Only needed two new front tyres though the ones on there would have passed the treads were down a bit to much for my liking. I replaced all the tyres about six years ago (the cars 12 years old) because the original tyres were getting feathered, the rubber drying and cracking around the edges. The only advisory was a pinhole in the exhaust, luckily in the cheapest and easiest part to replace, a flexible pipe connecting the manifold to the rest of the system.
  2. This must be fun driving with a headwind:-
  3. Any more news of GDB? And HH seems to be rather quiet at the moment.
  4. They tried that in the USA, now the infection rates are through the roof.
  5. What's the betting that some ejit's will go shopping without masks the day before they become compulsory as either some sort of defiance or 'just because we can'. That would be a good day to avoid shopping.
  6. My intention is to convert some diecast cars from left hand drive to right hand drive. Some people have just swapped the steering wheel over but that just looks odd. I was hoping to scan the dashboards of the models, flip the scan to produce a mirror image and 3D print the result. The printing should be straightforward but it seems to get the scan to the required standard requires an expensive machine that cannot be justified on cost grounds. I hope there's someone out there who provides scanning services.
  7. Morning all from Estuary-Land. I had intended to go to Tesco's yesterday once the car had been serviced but the replacement tires were not in stock so the car was left overnight so I will have to wait until this afternoon to do some shopping. Whilst the fridge is nearly empty I'll give it a clean. Bin day today, now they've bin an' gorn, even the lesser spotted glass and bottle wagon. Now to wait for the car to be returned.
  8. You might regret saying that as there might well be such a photograph.
  9. The items I wish to scan and print are small and highly detailed. I only intend it for my own use and even if I produced them commercially the cost would not be justified.
  10. Evening all from Estuary-Land. This came up on Farcebook this evening, some ER's might be familiar with the story. https://www.sciencealert.com/how-dead-girl-paris-ended-up-most-kissed-lips-in-history-l-inconnue-de-la-seine-resusci-anne-cpr-annie-death-mask Interesting if tragic story.
  11. Is that a 3D printed hippo in the middle?
  12. My intention with a 3D printer is to produce components for code 3 models. For example I have a couple of road vehicle models that I want to use in a British setting. However they are left hand drive but the dashboards on these models simply plug into the floor. My idea is to scan the dashboard, flip the image and print a mirror copy. Up to now I have seen attempts to alter these models by modifying and carving up the existing dash but these have not been a great success. In this case resin would be the ideal medium as it is better for fine detail.
  13. And keeping quiet about the mankini?
  14. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. On the news, Banksy had put some of his artwork on some underground trains. Its no longer there, the cleaners have removed it. It was done on interior panels that could easily be removed and replaced. Flavio, the ELEGOO mars looks just what I need as well, I'll have to check out whether it can scan. One thing if you look at the 3D printing threads here on RMweb its mentioned that the resin used can pong a bit.
  15. Is there a 3D printer that can also scan an item? I want to copy and reverse some images. Is there a 3D printer that provides such a facility?
  16. I'll be quite happy to ask him on your behalf Flavio. My requirements are different to yours so I'll be more specific when I ask as what might suit my requirements might not suit yours. My requirement is to be able to scan an object and reproduce it in reversed form retaining some very fine detail. The scanning element will no doubt add to the cost but it might be something that you will not require. I will of course mention your requirements to him and see what he has to say.
  17. Morning yet again from Estuary-Land. Took the car in and they dropped me off back home at ten. The printer part turned up about an hour ago and a check revealed that all is well. While I was on e-bay I looked up the make and model of laser printer that I have to see what the price was (second hand). A completely refurbished one was £499:99 which IIRC was about the same as I paid for the one I have new about 8 years ago. There was also one that hadn't been used for six months and looked very tatty for £52, probably needing even more attention than my present one. While I was about it I had a look at some 3D printers and just got confused, I think I'll ask the engineer when he comes to do my laser printer what he would suggest. Just heard from the workshop servicing my car, it needs new tyres on the front for the MoT £90 fitted but the car now won't be available until tomorrow.
  18. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Had to skip through the posts this morning so if I've missed anything important my apologies. The reason is that I booked my car in for a service/mot at 10 this morning and I've just received an e-mail from DHL saying one of the components for the printer that I ordered yesterday will be delivered between 10:25 and 12:25 from Germany!
  19. I have a couple of car park tokens (round) that I received in my change. I was going to throw them away but I'll give them a try with the trolleys first.
  20. I don't know what category my car is in the London clean air zone but it is classed as "no charge".
  21. Quarentinies? whats the recipe?
  22. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Its warm and sticky here at the moment and Arthur Itis is insistent its going to rain. I've been looking at some other sheds as I'm seriously thinking of cancelling the order and going elsewhere. I've found a shed that I like but they don't do erection and its six weeks for delivery. I wish I'd found them earlier but I'll keep them in mind. Time to put the kettle on, be back later.
