  1. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Had to pop into Tess Coes this afternoon as the milk was running rather low. Picked up a loaf of bread while I was about it. Five day forecast is a bit of wind and rain especially on Wednesday but the bank holiday weekend will be dry if a bit cold. That first review was pretty scathing, in that case I don't think I'll bother.
  2. What exactly happened? Was it a runaway or did it get a push.
  3. The captain of a pirate ship spotted a Spanish galleon on the horizon and he turned to the first mate and said "Fetch my red shirt." After they'd captured the galleon the mate asked "Why the red shirt?" The captain said"So that if I'm wounded the men won't notice and carry on fighting." A few days later the captain spotted a fleet of Spanish warships. He turned to the mate and said "Fetch my brown trousers."
  4. Now I've seen everything. Its made specifically for dogs and is none alcoholic.
  5. There is also the factor of limited storage space, this I understand is a particular problem for the LTM shop. Keep an eye on their web site over the next few months* and you might find a few bargains listed under to clear. This might be cushions finished in LT moquette rather than models but its worth a look. *With the motorised tube stock coming in and Christmas coming there should a few bargains.
  6. Morning all from Estuary-Land. One thing that I intended to mention yesterday but forgot. On the 22nd August 1970 I started my employment with the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham, 50 years ago! I remained with them for 37 years and 7 months until early retirement. I find it hard to believe that it was half a century ago. Thats the next step up from groan. The easy chair that was collected by the council wasn't very large, about the size of a car drivers seat. The free collection service has cut down fly tipping by a considerable amount.
  7. They usually sell at RRP and would have made sufficient profit.
  8. Evening all from Estuary-Land. The wind seems to have dropped and there's no damage. The council came round and collected the broken easy chair yesterday. Its a free service as well, you just have to leave the items out with the bin bags and a day or two later the wire cage truck comes round to collect the item.
  9. The London Transport Museum shop periodically has a clear out. When it does there's some real bargains to be had. Last year they cleared out the Heljan Metropolitan Bo-Bo at £34 each! They were sold out within an hour. Over the next few weeks quite a few began appearing on E-bay at 3 to 4 times that price. The difference was the S stock was a LT museum exclusive whereas the Met. Bo-Bo was on general sale.
  10. I think its a six compartment third. The later photograph (blue/grey) shows the door vents evenly spaced. The earlier photo, of the opposite side seems to show the door replaced with louvres and the vent moved to above the quarter-light.
  11. In e-bay I just entered Bachmann S stock and it came up with several. Prices varied from 'that's expensive' to HOW MUCH!
  12. This might help. https://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/118980-ger-ratio-coach-conversion-article/&tab=comments#comment-2580284
  13. They are getting as rare as hens teeth now. They were commissioned by the London Transport Museum but they are now entirely sold out. They were produced by Bachmann so there might be another run but don't hold your breath.
  14. So did Tomica, a far better model than the Matchbox one. Its also to 1/77 scale so ideal for 00 scale layouts. It came in several colours including white over maroon as above. I have two examples in my collection, the white over maroon as mentioned and the white over yellow as illustrated.
  15. Nice idea but would there be a market for RTR trams?
  16. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Winds have died down quite a bit but there was a rain shower earlier. Trying to catch up on Facebook, they're going to introduce a new format next month, even more user UNfriendly than the present system by the appearance of it. They ask for input and I've told them what I think of it but thats probably filed away somewhere. I mentioned earlier about the EFE rail thread, I see Andy Y has rapped a few knuckles and it seems a lot more peaceful now.
  17. Whats the difference between erotic and kinky? Erotic is where you use one feather, kinky is where you use the whole chicken.
  18. Just been looking at the EFE rail thread. I would advise not doing the same if you don't want to lose the will to live. Post after post grumbling about the price of the Hymek which is a re-introduction of the Heljan model. The basic complaint is that it now costs more than it did when introduced 17 years ago.
  19. Not that difficult to fit the spectacles. They are etched flat, the ear pieces are bent back using tweezers. Then dip the spectacles in PVA glue and place on the face of the figure. The PVA dries clear and gives the impression of lenses as well as securing them to the face of the figure.
  20. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Still blowing this morning but the seaweed twirlers say that you will be unlucky if you are rained upon hereabouts, we shall see. I noticed that one of the doors of the garden storage unit is open, probably due to the wind so I'll have to go and shut and secure it.
