Morning all from Estuary-Land. Andrew, I think you will find that by rubber stamping next doors planning application your council has failed in its statutory obligations, whatever the circumstances. However the planning regulations have been cut back and watered down by politicians of all colours resulting in the situation. By all means put in an objection and if you can put in an order to stop until it is resolved. Have you ever thought that the zombies might be already amongst us disguised as anti-vaxxers, Covid deniers and a few other weirdo's to which I would add anti abortionists (the sort that congregate outside clinics to scream their bile at women entering those clinics) and lycra louts who ignore red lights as they are already 'un-dead'. Well thats my theory anyway.

Goodnight all.

Oops nearly forgot. Some local schools are closed due to Corvid-19 including one where there is/was a regular toy fair/swap meet. They were cancelled of course as soon as lock down commenced.

Evening all from Estuary-Land. Reading John's blog on the demonstration in Trafalgar Square by the anti-vaxers/Covid is a hoax/5G conspiracy theorists if I was Corvid-19 positive I would be tempted to join their demonstration before self isolating. More mundane things, spider season is upon us, I've just had to rescue a rather large spider from the kitchen sink for the second time today. I don't kill spiders as they keep insects such as moths down. Congratulations HH on becoming a granddad and I hope it doesn't leave a big hole in your modelling tokens. Thats it for now, be back later.

She was obviously not driving but for sheer mindless stupidity she wins the prize. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-surrey-54217327

Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Spent a few hours this morning sorting out the airing cupboard. Luckily the water from the leaking unit only came down one corner of the cabinet. Apart from some pillowcases the towels and bedding in regular use were away from the wetness. The cupboard really needed sorting out, I found items that hadn't been used for years, and some that looked as if they've never been used. Some of the old towels were worn and are now to become cleaning clothes. Time to put the dinner on, be back later.

I was secretary of the MRC for a couple of years. Then another member said that he'd like a try at the job, a few seconds later it was his. After a couple of years he quit as secretary and I asked him wasn't he suspicious of the speed with which I vacated the post. I might add that both the MRC and the society rules require the committee members and officers to stand for re-election, and volunteers are asked for, thats when the members sit on their hands.

Bridge bashing
PhilJ W replied to chriswright03's topic in UK Prototype Discussions (not questions!)
The bottom line is the disparity between the two dimensions. There's probably some disparity on almost every bridge that is signed as this one is but it should never be as much as in this case. It should be no more than a couple of inches or five centimetres. -
Morning all from Estuary-Land. Was a bit chilly first thing this morning but warming up nicely now, on the south facing back of the house. The treasurer for a society is retiring after many years service and the rest of the committee are discussing a suitable retirement gift. He is a GWR fan so a book on the subject was suggested, the problem is he has an extensive personal library that probably contains anything and everything that is suggested or available on the subject. He's not retiring until the next AGM in March so we've plenty of time. Thats it for now, be back later.

As pointed out, 13 feet is not 4.1 metres but is considerably less which in this instance as pointed out is 5.4 inches (13 feet is 3.96 metres). Thats still a difference of nearly five and a half inches. If your driving 44 tons of HGV that is 4 metres high and the sign says 4.1 metres you have every right to expect it to be the indicated height and the margin of error between the two systems should be far less than in this case (5.4 inches, nearly 3%). -
Goodnight all.

Some are reckoning that because of social distancing there will be less colds and flu this winter.

Evening all from Estuary-Land. Its still showing 24.5 degrees inside at the moment, just as well without any heating and hopefully it should be sorted by Monday. Time to put the kettle on, be back later.

Unlike EFE Corgi buses do not have the plastic plug that holds the metal pillars that hold the model together. It is necessary therefore do drill a hole as close to the pillars as possible. Looking at your picture it appears that the small round studs along the centre line are where the pillars are so drill through them.

Definitely a Wiking model, probably a German prototype such as Hymer or Westphalia. Both companies better known in the UK for motor caravans.

To be really pedantic there was a locomotive named after our present monarch. But it was built and named before she became queen, Princess Elizabeth.

Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Not much got done today, time seems to have evaporated. I'm glad that I have no need for a Corvid-19 test. They are doing them in a car park near me but they insist on everyone attending by car. Here comes the rub, there are massive road works/alterations going on around the car park where the testing is taking place. Even I with my dodgy legs can walk down there in 5-10 minutes when by car could take twice as long. Now to get the dinner ready, use by date bingo as usual.

Is the local rag available on line?
