The Budgie one was smaller than 1/76 by quite a margin. The actual scale depends on which part you measure due to the odd proportions.

Evening all from Estuary-Land. Not a lot to report, still battling through Farcebook but I feel a lot less tired after this mornings inadvertent lay in.

Looking at the damaged barrier it appears that the nose of the car embedded itself in the horizontal gap half way up the barrier forcing the top half upwards to the inverted V shape as can be seen in the pictures. There must also have been a twisting motion causing the car to split in two.

Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Still haven't caught up with everything after this mornings unintended lay in. Not much done today, I was going to prepare the second venison steak for a casserole but then I checked the use by date, five days out of date! It looked and smelled OK but I decided not to chance it so last night I left it out for the local foxes who soon obliged by removing it. If I'd put it in the rubbish there was a good chance that the foxes would have got it any way. In fact houses built with lime mortar are just as likely to collapse. When I moved in to my cottage at Burnham-on-Crouch I had to have it damp treated. This involved removing the plaster from the downstairs walls. That plaster was almost certainly original and contained horsehair as a binder. The scullery was added to the rear in the 1920's and the walls were not plastered until the 1950's/60's.

I seem to recall someone on this thread at the beginning of this year saying that they were no longer going to watch F1 as it was boring . I do hope however that those in charge of the sport do take note of what has made this years racing so interesting (baring accidents) such as choice of circuits.

It would be interesting to compare the weights of the different stocks. The 1938 stock was all steel but the D stock is largely aluminium. My guess would be that there is not a lot of difference especially if you take the greater length of the D stock into account.

Morning all from Estuary-Land. Overslept this morning big time. Last night the sore foot kept me awake until the early hours with Arthur Itis joining in for a chorus. I did eventually go to sleep about five but when I woke up it was gone ten. Thoughts are with NB and his brother, this time last year my brother was in hospital with sepsis brought about by kidney failure, luckily he has recovered but he was very ill at the time. When the LCC Becontree Estate was developed in the 1920's the tenants were expressly forbidden to keep pigs or cows and IIRC chickens as well until WW2. My dads relatives had a smallholding at Rainham where they raised pigs on behalf of the tenants of the estate, each family had its own pig.

Evening all from Estuary-Land. Been spending this evening watching the F1 and catching up on Farcebook. The racing was quite thrilling with two major crashes where fortunately the drivers walked away from. Made quite a bit of progress on Farcebook despite it being carp. The new format has stripped out a few features that were useful, user friendly it aint.

When I was small the presents were not hidden but placed beneath the Christmas tree (but not all of them, some were kept back until the day.) One Christmas my two siblings and myself were naturally very excited and couldn't go to sleep until very late. When we did so our (exhausted) parents placed the remaining pressies out and fell into bed. No sooner had they done so than the three of us woke up and stated unwrapping the prezzies with all the noise that three excited young children could muster.

Is it easy to re-gauge these locomotives to EM or P4?

Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Sorry to hear of your test results BoD and I do hope it progresses no further. Done nothing but potter around all day when not on eye-lid inspection. Hot pot for dinner tonight, its all ready to go into the microwave. Looking forward to the F1 highlights tonight, better make sure I'm switched on as all the excitement seems to be in the first lap this season.
