  1. Apparently the Lada's are quite rare nowadays. Back when they were dirt cheap second hand Russian merchant seamen used to buy them up and on the voyage home used to strip them of usable spares and dump the carcase over the side. Once production had ceased in Russia spares became difficult to obtain.
  2. I haven't yet decided what ones I will have but probably a couple from each range. This will be to go with my rail gun together with a few goods/ferry vans. The only thing missing is a suitable bogie coach for the officer I/C but I'm looking at some of the Ratio offerings.
  3. Breaking news, the orange one has been removed from both Twitter and Facebook.
  4. Morning all from Estuary-Land. The sore foot kept me awake last night it was that painful. Normally I would be down to my GP or possibly visiting the hospital or dialling 111 but in the present circumstances I'm reluctant to do so as the NHS has enough on its plate with covid. Now that I'm up it seems to have diminished somewhat In China all adults are expected to carry a mobile phone and have a government app that enables the individuals movements to be traced, 1984 writ large. It did help them deal with covid but would be totally unacceptable in a democracy. Having said that our own Track and Trace worked in a similar way. It was mentioned on the news this morning that the Orange One could still be impeached or removed from office. But who will be in charge between now and the inauguration of Biden? Apart from the woman who died, who was a Trump supporter the other three deaths have been described as due to 'medical reasons'
  5. Well I know of one who wont be coming back in 2024.
  6. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Well at least the foot has calmed down, it was getting a bit sore earlier but seems to be OK now. I've just discovered that Yahoo has shut down all groups. I only discovered that because I was looking for one of the groups I was in. So if you had a Yahoo group or was a member they have pulled the plug and what is more nothing has been archived.
  7. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Comments about what is happening in Washington DC are superfluous. And he thinks he will get the Republican nomination in 2024? But as Neil said we don't do politics here. The sore foot is starting to make itself noticeable so I will change the dressing shortly. Tea has brewed, be back later.
  8. I notice that EFE have added an extra seat upstairs at the rear. The rearmost seat at the rear upstairs only sat two. IIRC there was also a small armrest for the passenger seated on the right.
  9. Oops, pressed the submit button before I'd finished. My friend is at last going on line, a case of having to as his sons school has given his lad a tablet to continue his education under lock down. I'm trying to persuade him to join RMweb.
  10. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. I see the Hornby generic coaches thread is still merrily frothing away, already on fourteen pages when only about three will do. I have obtained a copy of the 2021 Hornby catalogue, its on sale in Tess Coes from today.
  11. Why not build a stock box wired up with connectors for each coach with a suitable common supply (USB or the like). I have given a couple of radio controlled 1/76 scale cars as Christmas presents and the cars are stored on the charger/control and can be fully charged in 90 seconds at the press of a button.
  12. A lot of their equipment was obtained from countries that they annexed/invaded. This resulted in a logistical nightmare in obtaining spares for such equipment. Added to that the factories in the occupied countries very rarely worked to full capacity. Also there was a very clever piece of sabotage carried out on every Citroen truck made for the Germans. The full mark on the oil dipstick was moved down a few millimetres meaning that there was insufficient oil in the sump. The Germans never spotted that one. They did however standardize on the Opel Blitz 3 ton truck, examples being turned out by Mercedes amongst others.
  13. So thats their answer to long rigid wheelbases on curves.
  14. Yes, but didn't Bachmann pull the rug out from under Hatton's?
  15. What a terrible waste of cake, PB will be appalled,
  16. If Hattons are offering the Hornby coaches on pre-order it appears that they are not that fussed about the competition. Perhaps they reckon the market is big enough for both.
  17. Hatton's don't seem to be too fussed about the competition from Hornby's generic coaches. After all they are advertising the Hornby coaches as available for pre-order. Maybe they've estimated that the market is big enough for both?
  18. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Hardly slept a wink last night due to the sore foot. Its eased slightly after a clean dressing was put on it this morning and now waiting for the Nurofen to kick in. As I mentioned the weather seems to play some part in it. It is always worse when it rains and last night it poured down but this morning its starting to clear up, there might even be some sunshine. Once the muggatee has been drunk an eyelid inspection will be called for.
  19. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Been trying to keep up with the Hornby generic coaches thread but in the end I gave up and skipped a few pages. It was mostly a lot of froth anyway. The foot is still a bit sore but not as bad as last night, I'll have to keep a note of what I am eating to see what if any foods affect it.
  20. There's been a sudden spike on the Isle of Wight of covid cases. They've gone from being amongst the lowest rates in the country to the highest.
