  1. I've ordered mine direct from Hornby and the delivery date is the same.
  2. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Not much got done today except eyelid inspection and sorting out the stuff in the spare room. I have decided to reduce some of my model collections (not those that run on two parallel strips of metal) so was checking that the relevant models were all together. I will then start on my books, what Mike has shown would be less than 20% of the books that I have. I have been giving some thought recently as to what will happen to my books and models when I shuffle off this mortal toil. Some things have personal meanings to me and I want to make sure they go to someone who will appreciate them.
  3. I looked the register up. Its a shame that the Tatra was only available in LHD and conversion to RHD* made them too expensive. * Ironic as Hitler forced a change in the rule of the road they would have been RHD.
  4. I now can't find the frame by frame reconstruction of the accident that I posted on the 2020 thread a few weeks ago.
  5. That much rolling stock in a small yard suggests that they had been withdrawn and stored. It would be interesting to see the sales contract of the yard to the boatyard.
  6. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Sorry to hear your news BoD, hope things turn out OK. Not a bad night last night, about five hours sleep until the foot combined with Arthur Itis to wake me up. Even then I was able to roll over and get another hours eyelid inspection. The foxes around here don't do it in gardens, they do it in the middle of the street, shameless! Those who the gods seek to destroy they first send mad.
  7. They were thrown out with the innards.
  8. It was when many Chinese factory workers didn't return after the Chinese new year and this disrupted production coupled with the illness/death of the owner meant there was no one to chase things up.
  9. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Didn't venture out today so the shower hose will have to wait, most of the leakage goes in the bath anyway. I once had a colleague who kept ferrets and he told me that his ferrets sometimes killed grey squirrels. A couple of nights ago -36C was recorded in northern Spain! Here we go again.
  10. The Vanwides had a relatively short life. Wear in the suspension led to derailments.
  11. FYI the Ratio brake 3rd is 120mm long and the composite is 110mm long at the sole bar. I don't have a third to measure but I have a Slaters six wheel clerestory third thats 122mm.
  12. I decided against the CX because it was much to big for what I wanted. Coupled with the petrol engine it would have cost far too much to run.
  13. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. There used to be an abundance of tree rats around here but they seem to be absent lately for some reason. We also have an abundance of foxes, even more it seems this year. I don't mind them so much as they are very good at dealing with other vermin such as rats. There seems to be a few more survivors around this year. Their survival rate is generally quite low, only about 20% make it through the first year and thats without being hunted. I assume the predator mentioned by Tony is of the feathered variety, at least its not an eagle owl, who will take cats and small dogs. The eagle owl has settled in Yorkshire much to the concern of sheep farmers as they will also take lambs.
  14. I was thinking of modifications to make them more closely representative of a particular company, minor tweaks or even major surgery to achieve that end.
  15. I think kolacz would be my favourite.
  16. Looking at the amount of sugar in Polish cakes its a wonder the Poles have any teeth left.
  17. I gave an agree to that, I once had a Peugeot 806.
  18. There's nothing to stop you modifying them. In fact I'm expecting plenty of 'how to' articles and blogs both here and in the model railway press once these coaches (and the Hattons ones) become available. Then we will get the arguments as to whether the Hornby or Hattons is better for a particular application.
  19. I'm not worried about lighting as I will use them as support vehicles for a rail gun. I'm not sure if stock used for that purpose had any lighting at all. It certainly shouldn't show in blackout conditions.
  20. Grey squirrels are regarded as vermin. Difficulty is you must use a humane method of getting rid of them.
