  1. Not a lot of difference, the Pound and Euro are almost level pegging now.
  2. Isn't the Oxford Rail GWR brake van from the Edwardian period?
  3. I have just ordered an item from Shapeways (Netherlands), the postage was £7:80p!
  4. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Went to Tess Coes this afternoon, the place was empty but at least everyone except for a few young children were masked. I thought that they looked as if they were from central casting. Still didn't stop the police sergeant from shooing the cameraman away though. Does Rupert sell newspapers?
  5. Many years ago (1960's) there was a chap who drove around Romford in a Dingo scout car.
  6. The Metropolitan removed both buffers from both coaches and used a special coupling. There are adjustable close coupling units available.
  7. Hello again. Early memories, my oldest memories go back to when I was a toddler, about 70 years ago. One is learning to walk, my dad sitting in his favourite chair encouraging me to walk towards him. The other was a trip to Nottingham to visit relatives. My dad had borrowed a Ford Y van and I vaguely remember riding in it. I also remember a ride on a London tram when I was about two or three years old. When I mentioned this to my dad he was able to confirm it all and was quite surprised.
  8. Nearly forgot. I sometimes have something stuck in the editor, not a problem as its easy to clear. It often happens when you are at the start of a new page or if someone else posts at the same time as yourself.
  9. One Essex registration originally on a Land Rover but still around is UPU 2.
  10. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Not a bad night last night 3+2 hours sleep despite the sore foot and Arthur Itis. Need to do a bit of shopping today, mostly perishables. It seems that a few shelves were empty when I last went into Tess Coes, hopefully that isn't a sign of things to come. Time to sort out breakfast, be back later.
  11. I can remember a few instances from when I was two, three or four years old but when my parents mentioned things that happened at the same time I have no recollection. About the time that my niece and nephew started school I took them to visit my grandfather, their great grandfather but neither can remember him.
  12. There is the LSWR road van coming from Kernow shortly. A couple ended up at the Longmoor Military Railway.
  13. Evening all from Estuary-Land. The sore foot seems to calm down a bit once I start walking on it but its still giving the odd twinge. Now to deal with Farcebook, I may be some time.
  14. My gremlin would have said scoff the lot and damn the consequences.
  15. Of course the onions were included.
  16. I would love to see a kit in 1/72 or 1/76 scale. A kit would be preferable as they varied considerably as to what windows were fitted according to role.
  17. They had a normal rigid rear axle. But they did have torsion bar suspension all round. The engine was all alloy mounted forward of the front axle with the radiator mounted on the bulkhead behind the engine. Their Achilles heel was the gearbox which eventually led to the companies downfall.
  18. Its a CMP Chevrolet C8. The smallest of the CMP vehicles. It served much the same purposes as the Humber 4x4, staff car, ambulance etc.
  19. It appears that it depends on the vaccination centre. Some have set up a system where they can contact those waiting and call them in for the jab so as to use up the jabs (as Tony said above whilst I was typing this). Others however have not done so for various reasons and they've been wasted.
  20. HK4212 is from the second batch of Guy Arab 'short' (25 feet) single deckers (HK 4207-16). It had a 5LW engine and pre-selective gearbox and was fitted with a Metal Sections body (S30+14 standing) assembled in Hong Kong. HK4208 is from the same batch and was converted to a tree lopper. AC4781 Is a Guy Arab V fitted with a 6LW engine and metal sections body 30 foot long. AC4571 was a similar bus to the one above but much rebuilt as many were. Note that this one is OPO with coin box fare collection. These buses, delivered in several batches could be described as the 'standard' Hong Kong bus of the 60's and were rebuilt several times. BH3759 is ex Southdown and was 6950 CD.
  21. Morning all from Estuary-Land. (Well it is morning at the mo, just). Arthur Itis is quiet at the moment but the sore foot feels as if its on fire so not much sleep. Speaking of which I'll have to try shortly for another eyelid inspection.
