  1. It still exists. it dates from 1871 when it was built by the Stockton and Darlington Railway as a six wheel third class saloon. It came to the NER in 1876 and was converted ti an inspection saloon in 1884. In 1904 it was rebuilt into bogie form as in the picture. This was the coach that became 'The Old Gentlemans Carriage' in the film The Railway Children.
  2. I did try their app. After jumping through several hoops to get to the next bit I ended up where I started with the package 'out for delivery'.
  3. Down at the local pub this gentleman is offering lemon drizzle cake and chocolate cream sponge 'off the ration'. Best not to enquire to much as to its source but I hope it didn't suffer to much damage when it fell off the back of the lorry.
  4. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. I tried to contact the UPS delivery agent earlier but the phone wasn't answered. I have now e-mailed the UPS customer complaints department and awaiting a reply. I also have an e-mail address for the UPS CEO in case I don't get a satisfactory answer.
  5. The number of times I've seen drivers trying to get unstuck from mud or snow using bottom gear and revving only to dig themselves in.
  6. I have discovered an end on view of this coach on e-bay. It shows a lot of detail of the end including some fancy metal scrollwork. It appears to have or had two narrow end doors if the central handrails are anything to go by.
  7. Found a second photograph on e-bay showing plenty of end detail including some fancy metal scrollwork. The first photograph shows the underframe details albeit in its final condition with Gresley bogies and large battery boxes. Not a problem as I intend to run it on my own 'preserved' line.
  8. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Cold and very frosty here this morning, I've no idea what the temperature is outside at the moment but indoors its a toasty 22.C. The sore foot went to sleep with me last night but woke up first this morning but not until spot on eight. I've had only one serious accident where the car ended up on its roof after rolling a couple of times but the only injury was a cut finger, on the broken glass as I climbed out through one of the windows. I was rear ended by a HGV tractor unit running solo when the driver decided to accelerate into the same space that I was moving into having checked my mirror and indicated. Even after the accident the slight dent in the rear wing where he hit me was evident. Sounds interesting, useful if there's a tea break.
  9. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Talk of driving tests, I passed mine 53 years ago this month and in that time I have never received as much as a parking ticket. I passed on the second attempt, the first I was a bundle of nerves and it was probably the reason I failed. When I did pass I was aware that I'd made a couple of mistakes in the first few minutes of the test and thought that I'd failed again so I just went through the motions. You could have knocked me down with a feather when the examiner said that I had passed. There was a third test between the other two tests but the car broke down and the test had to be abandoned.
  10. I had to look the directors saloon up. Unfortunately it doesn't appear to have made it into preservation.
  11. The photograph was still available and it will be shortly on its way to me.
  12. That sounds interesting, can I watch?
  13. It was the 3d print that piqued my interest. I want to find out more details of it, the interior in particular. Unfortunately it appears to have been scrapped. The was a photograph of it taken in 1957 for sale on E-bay recently I have contacted the vendor to see if its still available.
  14. I have just discovered this thread. Does anyone know if this vehicle still survives?
  15. He and the bear should be watching Channel 5 at the moment. While they are distracted some ER's are installing extra measures to protect their cake stash.
  16. Just seen the latest weather forecast. We still might get snow later this evening.
  17. XXL size? XXXXXL more like it.
  18. Just a thought:- Meat eaters are carnivores, vegetation eaters are herbivores, insect eaters are insectivores and those who eat some if not all are omnivores. But what do we call cake eaters? (other than sir?)
  19. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. No sign of rain, sleet or snow yet. Haven't seen any forecast yet today but apparently it should be a bit warmer later in the week.
  20. I couldn't see anything suitable in the Langley catalogue. I'll have to check out some of the continental makers such as Faller.
  21. I didn't expect the festival to run this year anyway for the reasons you stated but I asked the question just in case. Last year I was planning a coach trip using a vintage coach but of course that was stopped by covid. Hopefully things will be OK next year.
  22. I hope to visit the museum later this year if it is open. I have attended the Ipswich transport and modelling festival several times. It was of course cancelled last year, any news of this years?
