  1. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Arthur Itis predicted the rain was coming and Carol has confirmed so. BBC Breakfast were doing a special on Capt. Sir Tom this morning and I was struck by the piece on the little disabled boy who had never walked but was inspired to do a walk for charity just like Sir Tom. In my eye that counts even more than the millions raised for the NHS.
  2. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Blowing a hooley outside but no rain fortunately. Still no news of the covid vaccinations but at least there is no journey involved as it will be in my GP's surgery which is not far away.
  3. There is a large senior school near me and during lockdown there is far less litter about, same in school holidays.
  4. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Just spent most of the afternoon on eyelid inspection. Feeling a lot better and no need to rush to the loo every ten minutes. Like the free TV licences for the over 75's the government has pushed their responsibilities onto other organizations. Only difference is whereas the BBC let the government walk all over it the RSPCA have passed the ball back to the government. Not that I'm a great lover of such monolithic charities I admit that they do have a point. Its possible that as part of his support bubble they were allowed in. But he caught pneumonia first, possibly just after his return. Moving from a hot moist climate to a cold and damp English winter was always a risk.
  5. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. I seem to have recovered from this mornings difficulties even if feeling a little tired. However Arthur Itis and the sore foot are both banging their drums again. Time for some eyelid inspection, be back later
  6. Looks like they're having a party on the lower deck.
  7. Morning all from Estuary-Land. I woke up this morning just after 5 busting for a pee which is nothing unusual except that I had to make the dash a bit faster. Also I had an uncontrollable shiver and a stiffness across my shoulder blades. Fortunately the shivering has stopped and the stiffness went away quite quickly. If I had a temperature it is now back to normal and I've had no cough or any other covid symptoms. The only thing now is the bladder demanding to be emptied, now every twenty minutes instead of ten. I must have immunity to Bill Gates microchips. and whatever is already in place. The most used item in my armoury is the off switch. Twenty two overpaid prima donnas chasing after an inflated bladder is not my kind of thing, neither is Prancing on ice. And as for the Sleb programs such as Get Me Out of Here beggars the question why?
  8. I seem to recall Parkside making a kit of the LSWR van.
  9. Evening all from Estuary-Land. My niece phoned me earlier this evening and we had a good chat about our family history. She is still working full time and has been so throughout the covid crisis. However she has been the only one in her office though some others have been in from time to time. Tea has brewed so its be back later.
  10. Those Minix models come up a treat. In my stash of broken models I have the Minix caravan, unfortunately the tow hook is broken. I am looking into the possibility of using parts from the Cararama 'tear drop' caravan and wheels from the Cararama Mini.
  11. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. I see we are all being urged to get tested for covid even without showing symptoms, all down to this South African variant apparently. Last time they offered tests here there was such a rush that their phone line was constantly busy. I was surprised to hear that Captain Tom visited Barbados just before Christmas. Even if it was deemed a safe place to visit it involved sitting in a cigar tube for 8 or 9 hours sharing the same recirculating air with a lot of other people is not a good idea in a pandemic. I visited Barbados over 40 years ago in November, had a great time but when I got home I got a very bad cold and back then I was less than a third of Captain Tom's age.
  12. I sometimes make a short hissing noise when I'm laying in bed, but I don't think its air brakes.
  13. Hello again, the postman called about half an hour ago. With the post came one of the errant packages from Hong Kong. This was the one where they have sent a replacement so I have notified the vendor and offered to pay for the other ones when they arrive.
  14. Morning all from Estuary-Land. A bit grey this morning and a bit hazy earlier but that seems to have lifted. Dinner last night was a beef hot pot, very tasty. Chris, if I'm going into unfamiliar territory and the maps don't give sufficient detail I look on Google Earth. Quite often its possible to virtually 'drive' the route to the destination. Time to get breakfast ready, be back later.
  15. Update on Captain Tom. https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/captain-sir-tom-moore-couldnt-23418339#source=push

  17. On the packet it says 'Marks & Spencer' so they should be relatively easy to obtain. We await your report.
  18. I had a look through his list and spotted a couple of items that are bargains. The seller doesn't seem to know what he's got or what its worth.
  19. Having worn the British battle dress (RAF blue Air Cadets) I think they must have been a German secret weapon.
  20. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Still having e-mail problems. Every time I click renew it becomes unavailable but if I open it on a new tab it comes up OK although the existing tab its still shown as unavailable, but at least closing it doesn't affect the new tab. Problem is that Virgins call centre is closed due to covid and they're warning of a three hour wait. Kettle is boiling, be back later.
