  1. Evening all from Estuary-Land. A very enjoyable Zoom talk this evening. One of our members was able to visit both the Bluebell and the Severn Valley last year. Both organizations to keep social distancing were bringing out the compartment stock rather than the Mk. I's. You had to pre-book and you were allocated a compartment on a particular train. It was of course more expensive but it was still very popular especially with families. Now to do battle with Farcebook, be back later.
  2. Getting his own back for that trip to the vet?
  3. My covid jab is due Tuesday afternoon. Not looking forward to it but its got to be done.
  4. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Just got a call and I'm now booked in for my covid jab next Tuesday afternoon. I know of a few who have had it already but all in a higher category than me (older or more vulnerable, or both). I come into the over 70's with no underlying health problems group.
  5. I'd feel inclined to tell him that indeed it is cancer and he's only got a week to live.
  6. What don't they understand about "Over height must turn."?
  7. They didn't find the two parallel strips embedded in it then?
  8. Even if corvid wasn't there its likely that pneumonia would have taken Captain Tom. I spent the greater part of my career dealing with salaries and pensions and quite a few death certificates crossed my desk and pneumonia featured as a contributing to or actual cause of death in at least half of them.
  9. Isn't there a Vauxhall engine/gearbox unit that can be squeezed into a Mini?
  10. Just came across this on e-bay:- https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/An-225-Mriya-Superheavy-transporter-Limited-Edition-1-72-Modelsvit-7206/254819786657?_trkparms=aid%3D1110009%26algo%3DSPLICE.COMPLISTINGS%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20201210111452%26meid%3D8ca01ec739a048dca93b3923c0f9ecbd%26pid%3D101196%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D12%26mehot%3Dlo%26sd%3D264925079341%26itm%3D254819786657%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D0%26pg%3D2047675%26algv%3DItemStripV101HighAdFee%26brand%3DModelsvit&_trksid=p2047675.c101196.m2219 Yes, its the largest winged aircraft ever to fly as a 1/72 scale plastic kit. When finished it will have a wingspan of almost 4 feet.
  11. I recently found this on E-bay. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/An-225-Mriya-Superheavy-transporter-Limited-Edition-1-72-Modelsvit-7206/254819786657?_trkparms=aid%3D1110009%26algo%3DSPLICE.COMPLISTINGS%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20201210111452%26meid%3D8ca01ec739a048dca93b3923c0f9ecbd%26pid%3D101196%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D12%26mehot%3Dlo%26sd%3D264925079341%26itm%3D254819786657%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D0%26pg%3D2047675%26algv%3DItemStripV101HighAdFee%26brand%3DModelsvit&_trksid=p2047675.c101196.m2219 Yes its a model kit of the An-225 Mriya Superheavy transport, the largest aircraft ever to fly in 1/72 scale as a plastic kit. When finished it would have a wingspan of almost five feet! I won't be buying one (at £450 a time) but I'd like to see the finished article.
  12. I hope they take a serious look at this to find out the people behind this 'Covid is a sham' thing. The participants all seem to have too few brain cells to think it up themselves.
  13. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Quite foggy about an hour ago when I looked out this morning, BIN day today and I think the lesser spotted glass and bottle wagon is due but no sound of it yet. The other bin wagons, land fill, garden waste and recycling are also late. Another Zoom meeting tonight, only a talk by one of the members but its great to talk to friends afterwards. Not doing any shopping today, staying indoors in the warm. Thats it for now, be back later.
  14. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Fish and chips tonight, same old use by date lottery again. I only heard about it when it was all over, as Chris said set it for 8 rather than 6 would have had more participants.
  15. Drivers of cars behind him used to laugh at it, until he pulled away and left them standing. In fact the handling was very well set up, it was quite the sleeper.
  16. Some news sources are still saying that its corvid. However he had pneumonia first and its likely that was the cause of death. When I was working I also dealt with pensions and there was always several copies of death certificates coming in every month and many had pneumonia as cause of death or a contributory reason. If covid-19 had not happened he still would have contracted pneumonia and its consequences would have been the same. I did note that when HM knighted Sir Tom that it was one of her few if only public engagements last year, good for you ma'am.
  17. I know of someone who done something similar with an Allegro estate. He also altered the badge on the tailgate to read All-Agro
  18. The big advantage of the Rover V8 was it weighed little more than the BMC 1800 'B' series engine so handling wasn't seriously compromised. I too remember the V8 Marina/Ital pick-up and IIRC someone fitted one traversly into an 1800/2200.
  19. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. I see Eurostar is on its uppers, all down to covid which has caused a 95% drop in traffic. Having never been married I of course have never had a M-i-L. From what I recall of my various girlfriends mothers there was never any that were hostile indeed one or two fussed over me as if I was their son and not their daughters boyfriend, much to the chagrin of their daughters. One in particular the girlfriend was reluctant for me to see when I did meet her I could understand the girlfriends reluctance for me to see her. She had a house full of cats that stank to high heaven and her language was disgusting. I could understand why the girlfriends parents were divorced and she lived with her dad who was one of the nicest people you could ever meet.
  20. The Australians even produced an 1800 Ute that was quite successful and was even converted to van and motorhome versions.
  21. They were built/converted by Crayfords, as was this:-
