  1. Morning (it was when I started reading ER's) all from Estuary-Land. The snow started here about an hour ago and is starting to settle. Best birthday wishes to ChrisF's aunts. I quite like curry's but like others I was never more venturesome than a Korma. However a few years ago I tried a Tandori and now that is my preferred Indian dish. Spicier than a Korma but IMHO the spices are more subtle. Is it not classed as a temperate rain forest? The Habsburgs were so inbred that the last of the line , Charles VI was a slobbering impotent idiot. Even they didn't go as far as the Pharos's. DNA analysis of Tutankhamun has revealed that his parents were full brother and sister and that their parents were possibly the same. This would explain some of his congenital defects. There was a fried chicken shop in Rush Green Romford that was shut down by the health inspectors when they found a dead dog in one of the freezers. It was the shop guard dog that had died on a Friday evening and they couldn't dispose of the corpse over the weekend and the weather was hot so they stuck it in the freezer.
  2. Wasn't Trump a 'celebrity' before he became president?
  3. Evening all from Estuary-Land. If you think that our governments are making a hash of the covid crisis be thankful that your not in Tanzania. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-55900680 It really beggars belief. Time for a mug (or two) of tea with CAKE!
  4. I think he will be impeached. He said he intends to stand again in 2024 impeachment would prevent him from doing so.. I can't see the Republican party putting forward his candidature so he will have to stand as an independent. If he did its likely that he'd split the Republican vote. That is why I think the Republicans will vote with the Democrats for impeachment.
  5. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Still just grey outside, no sign of the predicted rain/sleet/snow. Actually my house is better sheltered to weather coming from a north easterly direction than the west. That is because I am at the western end of both the street and the terrace and the street is well endowed with trees and shrubs. That seems rather odd as opposite Basildon Nick is a multi-storey car park and strictly no parking on the street.
  6. A bit to modern for a 1960's layout.
  7. If he is impeached he won't get them anyway.
  8. I had a Mini where the previous owner had put a new clutch in it. Problem was that he omitted the lock washer that kept the clutch and flywheel assembly attached to the crankshaft. There was an enormous bang as I reversed it out of the garage, the bell housing was in several pieces and the back of the engine was sitting on the ground.
  9. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. I've noticed that the vaccination centres seem to be only to happy to do couples at the same time, if asked, in some cases an entire household. Tony, if Aditi hasn't had her jab yet why not ask if she can have hers at the same time? Brian, you mention the chairs you are painting but what sort of chairs are they? I have a couple of 85 year old wooden chairs which have an interesting history right back to when they were new. Problem is none of my family are interested in them so when I go they will at best end up in a charity shop at worst in a bonfire.
  10. Morning all from Estuary-Land. No sign of the rain and snow yet but its not far away, I'm staying indoors! And her majesty is likely to go on for a few years yet if the longevity of her mother is anything to go by. Prince Charles is the same age (as is Chris) as myself and quite simply I would not want his job. The idea of starting a new job at my age is frightening. Now time to run a bath.
  11. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Had a call from my brother earlier this evening. He had his jab yesterday when he went in for his thrice weekly oil change (dialysis). He told me that you can't even feel the needle going in as they use a micro needle. Tony mentioning rock salt reminded me that I have some in the garage but very little but then as I will not be going out except for my jab I hope I have enough. Tea is poured and now to tackle Farcebook, be back later.
  12. This might help. https://www.lancasterinsurance.co.uk/news/2018/june/22/street-scenes-the-1970s/ or this. https://www.vintag.es/2015/01/28-color-photographs-of-street-scenes.html or this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=pbeg0jD-PBk and this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2XqE9H8Waqg
  13. I mentioned Reliant Robins, the main reason for their popularity was they could be driven on a motorcycle licence. Many railwaymen had commuted by motorbike in their younger days but as they grew older wanted something more comfortable and Reliants provided the perfect answer. Oxford make the earlier Regal van and I think the equivalent saloon is in the pipeline. Oxford also make a few bubble cars which were still around into the 70's.
  14. This is THAT Parish council meeting:- What is unusual is the woman who cut out the Chairman is herself not even a member of the parish council.
  15. Just imagine this with predictive text and spill chucker thrown in for good measure.
  16. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Still afternoon to me having spent most of it on eyelid inspection. Just watched the weather report. On Sunday we are to get not yellow snow but orange snow, everywhere south and east of the M25/A12, and its expected to last until Monday. A lot of queuing at Tess Coe's lunchtime as a consequence but at least the shelves were well stocked. Now tea has brewed its be back later.
  17. Ford 100E, Hillman Imp and almost any British car from the 60's. Reliant Robins were commonplace but no models are available.
  18. Are they playing King Kong at the local cinema?
  19. If they ignore a flashing sign they are not likely to notice any other signs.
  20. Thats what its there for, to take all of the hit.
  21. Just had a phone call saying that all BT accounts will shortly be terminated unless I pressed button 1. A) I don't have a BT account and B) it's blatantly obvious its a scam. I checked with 1471 but its from a network that doesn't transmit callers numbers.
  22. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Just seen the weather forecast, the beast from the east is on its way and will apparently stay for a few days. I hope it doesn't affect my jab other than getting to the place about ten minutes earlier to allow time to remove a couple of extra layers of outer clothing. The access is via a narrow side street with lots of parked cars and highly unlikely to be gritted. Now time to run a bath, be back later.
