  1. Perfectly natural. The upper part of the trees were exposed to the sun which melted the snow and ice. beneath the trees which was in the shade it remained below freezing and the water refroze as it fell.
  2. Writtle near Chelmsford on the A414 today.
  3. Writtle near Chelmsford on the A414 today.
  4. The icicles are caused by water dripping off of the trees which are slightly above freezing point but the air is a few degrees below freezing point.
  5. Near Writtle, Essex on the A414. Used with permission of the owner.
  6. Covered by both driving without due care and attention and dangerous driving depending on circumstances. In this case there was only a fist sized hole in the snow on the windscreen so the police charged him with the more serious offence.
  7. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Just received the sad news that one of our model railway club members has passed away. No covid involved AFAIK but the big C. He was being treated for prostate cancer but then it spread to his lungs last July. Of the two organizations I belong to that have over a hundred members between them they have lost five members or former members. They were aged from 75 to 90 years old but remarkably none of them from covid. Three from cancer and two from other long standing conditions.
  8. Definition of an expert, ex = redundant, spurt = a drip under pressure.
  9. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Went for the fodder run to Tess Coes this lunch time. One thing I forgot was to pick up my gloves before going out which meant that with the wait to go in and the biting wind by the time I got inside my hands were frozen. Also by the time I made it inside my bladder was screaming for relief which meant a quick dash to the gents, it was then that I discovered how really cold my hands were! I'm getting calls again about my none-existent Amazon account but my answerphone has dealt with them. Tea has brewed so its be back later.
  10. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Pleasant surprise this morning, a packet arrived from France (no not that sort of package). It contained three diecast models of construction plant that I ordered via E-bay only four days ago, well done. Blowing a hooley outside but at least its dry so I'm venturing out for some more bread and milk and a few other things I'm running short of.
  11. Beware, this mirror for sale on E-bay has a crack on the right hand side.
  12. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Getting a bit windy outside now, hopefully there's no more snow tonight though last nights snow has disappeared except for that in the places that get no sun. If they are both identical twins any offspring although first cousins would genetically be the same as siblings as each of their parents share the same DNA as their twin.
  13. Just one look and you know he's guilty as charged.
  14. There was a case a couple of years ago where one twin was born on the 31st of August just before midnight and the other twin was born early on the following day the 1st. of September. A problem arose when it was time for them to start school as the school year starts on the 1st of September and the education authority said only the older twin could start school, the younger one would have to wait a year. I never heard of the outcome but hopefully someone used a bit of common sense.
  15. I've had my laser printer about ten years and have recently had it refurbished so its good for another ten years. Its a Lexmark X543, I'm not sure if they are still made but a second hand refurbished one identical to mine was offered on E-bay recently for £400, mine cost about £300 to refurbish. Some will tell you that Lexmark ink cartridges are expensive, yes they are but they are also a lot larger than those fitted to cheap printers, they are about the same size as the old video tapes and they last for ages, two of the cartridges in my printer are the ones supplied when it was new and they still are half full.
  16. Agreed, I have altered my post accordingly.
  17. A laser printer is far better for decals as you don't have to seal the decal with acrylic varnish, you can use them straight off the printer.
  18. For a change who would you want to leave on a desert island? Don't all rush now but N***l F****e tops my list. No politicians please (unless disguised as I have done here.)
  19. Charged with dangerous driving and so he should be. Hopefully he will get a minimum two year ban and another test before he gets his licence back.
  20. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Most of last nights snow has disappeared, only remaining in those places where the sun hasn't penetrated. Even better the frozen slush on the road in front of my house has gone and the road is drying out. It appears to be getting warmer as well. Now to check what the use by date lottery has for dinner tonight.
  21. Agreed, but brake fluid is highly toxic to animals such as dogs.
