  1. Happens all the time at swapmeets and toy fairs sadly.
  2. Evening all from Estuary-Land. I have located a suitable place to put the layout when I collect it. It will mean moving/re-arranging some stuff but its in what I laughably call the layout room. Now to put the kettle on, be back later.
  3. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Sorting out somewhere to put the layout when it arrives. Its only just under six feet long but I will have to move some of my treasures junk first.
  4. Here you are, just cut and paste.
  5. He said A great tit not THE great tit.
  6. As frequently suggested on this thread.
  7. And these. https://www.pinterest.co.uk/richardgregory3/forward-control-land-rover/
  8. There's also this. https://www.fwi.co.uk/machinery/4x4s/retrofit-cabs-revitalise-old-land-rover-discoverys
  9. A few were trialed but rejected. They had a tendency to lay on their sides due to a high cg and narrow track. A Mk. II version was made with a wider track but didn't entirely solve the problem. There was also the Land Rover Llama. Intended as a civilian version of the 101 with a tilt cab but only 10 prototypes and one production model were made. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Land_Rover_Llama
  10. There are still a few decent honest traders out in e-bay land, Groovychick80 for example who has some very good stuff at very good prices, and a 100% rating.
  11. Its the civilian 110 forward control model based on the series II 109 Land Rover. The dual cab would be an add on post production.
  12. Norf. A bit further down the line. the tunnel if it had been built would have been beneath the up platform ends of Bethnal Green mainline station. If it had been built as planned there would have been a triangular junction between Whitechapel, Shoreditch and the tunnel with the top junction actually in the tunnel beneath the viaduct. The viaduct that all the fuss was about was beneath the old Bishopsgate goods depot which was built on the site of the original ECR terminus. A lot of the viaduct still exists but cannot be seen as it was widened on one side in the 1860's and widened on the other side in the 1880's. Its still there but buried under the later viaducts.
  13. Morning all from Estuary-Land. A bit late on parade, a long lay-in and an equally long soak in the bath is my excuse. Better get breakfast on the go before it becomes brunch.
  14. Thats what I have done. Honey is the only foodstuff that does not go 'off'. It can be kept at normal temperatures for literally years. It can also be used as an antiseptic.
  15. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Checking my cupboards I found a jar of honey that had gone sugary. I've placed it (with the lid firmly on) in some hot water and its partially gone back to normal. I'm not sure what to do with it, perhaps use it as a substitute for suger or treacle in a bread pudding?
  16. The layout I'm hoping to buy on Wednesday is based 'East London near the District Line'. It has one track fitted with third and fourth rail. I will change that to part of the East London Line that was never completed. There was a spur constructed between Whitechapel and Shoreditch heading north and meant to connect to the GER line running north from Bethnal Green at Cambridge Heath. Only the part from the ELR as far as the main line viaduct into Liverpool Street was built but I'm going to imagine the line had been completed and was now the base of a preservation society.
  17. Yes indeed, they used a balloon with a timer. There were a few casualties some of them fatal. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fu-Go_balloon_bomb The British were more successful with Operation Outward. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Outward
  18. It appears that there was no tracks at all in 2011. The stone setts making up the street surface show no signs of having rails.
  19. Murray Walker has died, RIP. https://www.gpfans.com/en/articles/62674/murray-walker-f1-commentating-legend-dies-aged-97/
  20. More on Murray Walker. https://www.gpfans.com/en/articles/62674/murray-walker-f1-commentating-legend-dies-aged-97/
  21. Hopefully I will have a layout by this time Wednesday. Only a small micro-layout but the essential thing is it will fit into the car. I will probably make a few changes but firstly I'll be playing trains.
