  1. The red ones were usually the dirtiest. They usually come with chips.
  2. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Popped down to Tesco's this lunchtime only to discover a queue winding along the front of the store and out of site to around the corner. I decided to come back later but before doing so I asked the security lady what time they closed (it turned out to be normal closing time, midnight). But then she told me that I could walk straight in without queueing. I must look really old and decrepit to be allowed that favour. I was hoping to do a bit of the G word this afternoon but the hay fever says otherwise. Heads up for any Carry on fans, ITV3 are showing Carry on films back to back this afternoon culminating with Carry on Screaming at 8 PM. Any thoughts, the back half would be great for a model railway room.
  3. I would think that the lemmings would be very cross and hot at the though of being turned into dribble cake.
  4. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Arthur Itis has been banging his drum again, all last night and into this morning but paracetamol has seen him off. Still feeling tired though so a spell of eyelid inspection is called for.
  5. I was looking at a second hand BEV. Second hand they were surprisingly cheap, until you get to the bit that says 'Needs new batteries'.
  6. I expect the GER coach to be available in other liveries as after all Rapido do make the J70.
  7. For that matter there's plenty of small cheap radio controlled models available.
  8. I do hope it is glue.
  9. I wonder if Hornby will produce a 14xx?
  10. Hopefully Rapido might have them in the pipeline.
  11. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Contacted the plumber about the leaking radiator, he will be round on Tuesday to cap off the pipes. The radiator has been out of use for about twenty years, as the utility room is only used for storage and a workroom and gets enough heat from the kitchen and lounge the radiator was superfluous anyway.
  12. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. No use-by-date lottery tonight, after yesterdays shopping trip the fridge is full. It will probably be sausages or liver and bacon or whatever comes to hand. Whatever it turns out to be its about time to get it ready, be back later.
  13. How long before Hornby announce a new 14XX?
  14. I had the same problem a few years ago, though there wasn't any obvious sign of anything on the tyres. But while the car was on the lift I noticed the tyres were feathering so I took it in for a new set of boots. When one of the front tyres was taken off it immediately went into a bagel shape. The tyre fitter said that the reinforcing bands under the tread had split due to hitting a pothole. Everything was OK after the new tyres were fitted.
  15. I don't think we will be seeing any exhibitions any time soon. Though there is a swapmeet locally timed for the end of June and our own exhibition is still 'on' for October. I can't see why politicians of all colours are faffing about vaccination passports. I have no problem with them but I would have a problem with a venue that allowed all comers in. It seems the younger generations are not taking the pandemic seriously, on the news last night there were literally hundreds of under 30's occupying a park with no attempt at social distancing and very few masks on show. And they left several tons of litter in their wake. I normally wouldn't wish covid on my worst enemy but next time it mutates it might only affect the 18-30 year olds.
  16. I only want the GE coach W&U No. 8. Mind you Dans furniture could well detail any 00 scale house.
  17. Just been announced that Rapido are doing the complete Titfield Thunderbolt stock. https://railsofsheffield.com/news/articles/3859-the-titfield-thunderbolt I will definitely be ordering the W&U coach. It will be tied in with the 70th anniversary of the film in 2023.
  18. My finances have improved somewhat since lockdown began. I worked it out that over the past year I've saved just over a four figure sum by staying at home. I'd rather be out spending that money as I can't take it with me. By my reckoning we have another year of restrictions and a few years after that for things to return to normal.
  19. What makes empty boxes so attractive is that if you have a model without a box even if in perfect condition it is worth a lot less than one with a box. The problem is that someone who is less than honest can buy a box, put a less than perfect model in it and sell it as MIB.
  20. Morning all from Estuary-Land. A tad cooler this morning, enough to wake Arthur Itis up but he soon went to sleep again. Still got heat and hot water but the damp patch in the utility room is a bit bigger so I'd better top the system up before I run the bath which I'm just about to do.
