  1. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Arthur Itis was really going to town this morning, Ibuforen has been deployed. I will have to contact the surgery on Tuesday about my second jab. My first was on the 17th of February and I was told I would be contacted when the second was due but nothing yet. I posted off my ballot papers yesterday, I suspect that somehow I got missed despite being on the electoral register as I didn't receive a poll card either. I must compliment the electoral office in the way they got it sorted.
  2. It looks as if the building top centre has been pushed off of its foundations and itself knocking the box car off of its trucks.
  3. This looks very useful. https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/839776488/habilis-workbench-handmade-wooden?ref=shop_home_recs_1&frs=1&crt=1&fbclid=IwAR3T1kE9pagDbHdkCO9Lm4g8Ge_MHtNm9-7chM-W4GGS3ninlBSDl_czTOU

  5. I can imagine a pair of Bo-Bo NSU's topping and tailing a rake of Mk. I's. IC75 anyone?
  6. Evening all from Estuary-Land. I found the ad for the Stannah lifts and it states that in event of a power failure they will sink slowly to the ground and I assume any locks will release. I should imagine the same applies to the stair lifts. Time for tea, be back later.
  7. By then the locomotives had been delivered to Australia so its origin is a bit of a mystery. In other pics of the same train the carriage doors are open and several people in civvies are standing around it so its obviously been used for carrying the engineers.
  8. I have a loft ladder, I had it fitted after I had the boiler installed in the loft. One slight problem is I should have had the opening enlarged at the same time as it is rather small and the loft ladder takes up a bit of that space, only an inch or two but it makes a difference. Now that I'm getting older and stiffer its not so easy wriggling through the hatch.
  9. Back on topic but still on the NSU's. Its a pity that BR didn't consider a version as according to the Wiki article they were reliable and well thought of.
  10. Is it a Mk. I? this was in the early 50's when Mk. I's were only just coming into service. Although it could be one produced by the locomotive builder (BRCW) and still to be delivered to BR.
  11. I understand that its going to be produced in GER, LNER, BR and Titfield livery.
  12. IIRC some scrote got into one of the locos and took the handbrake off. Both locomotives were written off.
  13. A history of the locomotives here:- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commonwealth_Railways_NSU_class In the book on BRCW there is a photograph of the same train from the same angle and there is nothing unusual about the rear door of the first coach, it might be a mark on the original photo.
  14. Some sort of driving cab? The rest of the train is at least two quin-arts.
  15. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. I've been looking at stair lifts as I sometimes have difficulty using the stairs. I know one will fit as the elderly gent up the road who I mentioned this morning lives in an almost identical house to mine and he had a stair lift fitted a few years ago. I've also got space for a lift. The upstairs landing has a wide area directly above the utility room so there's plenty of space. He actually bankrolls the party in question. It will be interesting to see how many vote for them.
  16. I might add that the people who purchased my old property did end up with negative equity and lost out when they couldn't keep up their mortgage payments.
  17. That happened about 1988, just after I moved into this house. Fortunately I paid the same for this place as I got for my previous house so I just transferred the existing mortgage over. The only thing was it was an endowment mortgage so to be on the safe side I swapped it over to a repayment mortgage and as it turned out that was a good move. No negative equity but it came close at times.
  18. I noticed that the same party is putting a candidate up for Essex County Council. They certainly won't be getting my vote.
  19. Never! As others have done, frequently. At Warley 2019 not long after they had been announced I spoke to someone on their stand and I bought the subject of clerestories up and the answer was possibly but some way down the line.
  20. Does anyone know of any locomotive air horns going spare?
  21. Perhaps we should start our own thread here on RMW. Smug Old Gits?
