  1. I believe there was a similar arrangement at Holywell.
  2. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Blowing a hooley outside at the moment but no sign of rain yet. Just spent an hour assembling the stock boxes. The actual assembly took minutes including the dry run but I had to wait between stages for the glue to dry. Tea has brewed so its be back later.
  3. Good Morning/Afternoon from Estuary-Land. Great to see RMweb back up again and thanks Andy. It was getting a bit flaky late last night just before I went to bed. Actually the £30,000 beach huts are at Clacton not far from the one's that I was considering at Holland-on-Sea. Anywhere much further north of there on the east coast might be a bit iffy due to coastal erosion. The ones I did consider were a few rows back from the beach and therefore less desirable from some peoples point of view but at least the one's in front give some protection from the elements and if said erosion happens they are less likely to be floating off into the North Sea. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-devon-53861758#:~:text=Beach huts along a stretch, dragged down to the sea. https://www.dailypost.co.uk/news/north-wales-news/expensive-north-wales-beach-huts-18810152
  4. Only £30,000, not far from here at Thorpe Bay they are more than twice that.
  5. Evening all from Estuary-Land. A couple of nights ago there was terrible screaming coming from outside in the early hours. I looked out to see what it was. It was a dog fox with a rat in its mouth and the rat was screaming. The fox was walking from the railway line towards the golf course.
  6. The council work was by a contractor and had been planned by about two years.
  7. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Seems very quiet here on ER's this afternoon, there must be a lot of eye lid inspection going on. Arthur Itis made a return call but didn't stay to long. No further sign of rain but the forecast is for lots of it tomorrow. Time for muggatee, be back later.
  8. When the fibre optic cables were laid in my street about twenty years ago the council were putting in new pavements. The cable company were asked if they could bring forward the installation to before the pavement refurbishment but they said they couldn't. The pavement refurbishment had just been completed when the cable company dug it all up again to install the cables. They could have saved themselves thousands by doing it before.
  9. Hello again from Estuary-Land. The first rain for more than a month a bit earlier. After about ten minutes it disappeared as quickly as it arrived and now you wouldn't think it had rained at all. We just measured up the washing machine and left 5 cm clearance below the worktop and 10 cm either side. Who's nicked my car?
  10. There is an accident report involving this locomotive but the accident was in 1/1959 when it was less than two years old. file:///C:/Users/Owner/Downloads/dot_45379_DS1%20(1).pdf This is too early a date for the photograph but I'll keep on searching.
  11. Well they squeezed an SD40 to make a class 59.
  12. Thats a problem with many temporary traffic lights. Being temporary the signage is not checked for visibility. Even some permanent signs are not always well placed.
  13. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Arthur Itis and his mate were at it hammer and tongs this morning. A long soak in the bath and a a brace of Nurofen have dealt with them. You pay peanuts, you get monkeys..... He's still around, he has started his own awl-free version of ER's called The Night Mail.
  14. Currently standing in the polls at 1%.
  15. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Arthur Itis woke up again this afternoon but a brace of paracetamol is putting him back to sleep again. Had a sniffy nose as well due to hay fever. It seems to get worse when I go upstairs and I'm wondering if its caused by pollen from the ash trees opposite the house. Kettle has boiled so its time to make a pot of tea, be back later.
  16. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Finally got Arthur Itis back in his box but still done s0d all today unless you count a necessary trip to Tess Coes or I would have been on an enforced diet. While I was there I espied in the 'broken box' reduced to clear a five litre drum of Ronseal wood preservative reduced from £8 to £2. Upon examination the only fault was a broken carrying handle. That is now in the garden shed and in a few weeks it will be applied to the outside of said shed. Tea has brewed so its be back later.
  17. Notify the local plod, that should stop it.
  18. Going by the (new?) cars on the train I would say its late 60's early 70's. As American cars are identified by year model an expert on American cars might be able to tie it down even more.
  19. On the subject of stair lifts:-
