  1. Around here they live alongside badgers so it can't be that. A main restriction to their movement appears to be major roads and a few appeared in new areas during the first lockdown. It is thought that the ones in Basildon came from the open countryside to the east between the A127 and the A13.
  2. It just directs me to a music download, that is empty?
  3. I have plenty of lead for weighing down wagons. I have an end terrace house with a six foot brick wall surrounding half of the back garden together with a block of brick built garages lower down the garden. When the estate was built a Redifusion cable TV system was installed and the cable ran along the back and sides of the garages, around the garden walls and across the back of the house. The cable was suspended by lead straps nailed to the brickwork every few feet, the lead straps being about half an inch wide by four inches long. The cable system was abandoned about twenty years ago so when the cable was removed I recovered well over a hundred of the lead straps. Got a fair bit for the cable as well as scrap.
  4. Hello again from Estuary-Land. Final load of washing will be going in shortly, once done it can go outside to dry. Just need to put away yesterdays washing first, just as well jeans don't require ironing. Late last night I spotted a pair of Muntjac passing the house. I've been hearing them for weeks, apparently there's quite a colony of them over the golf course. Muggatee awaits so its be back later.
  5. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Bright and dry this morning with wall to wall blue sky. No evidence of the bin wagons dawn chorus yet, not even the lesser spotted glass and bottle wagon, perhaps they're taking a lie in. The weather report is looking good and even better for this time next week, mid 20's+. Now time to run a bath, be back later.
  6. Evening all from Estuary-Land. I might have recovered from the waterworks troubles but my appetite is still AWOL. I just made do with a roast beef sarnie for dinner tonight. On the bright side I've lost just over two kilos in weight and I could do with loosing a few more. I have put on some weight over lockdown and need to loose it.
  7. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Just a thought on the mystery plant. Why not show it to Rick's missus? If she can't identify it she must know someone who can. Not much else to report so its be back later.
  8. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Note to self, make sure that the pockets are empty before you put jeans in the wash. The item in question was a paper hankie, I'm still picking soggy bits out of the washing machine so the next items will be the old towels used for mopping up (also to clear the machine of dye from the jeans) but first to clear the trap. On the health front everything is back to normal now time for breakfast.
  9. My grandfather (b. 1894) was a cabinet maker. When he died my mum inherited his tools. He had served his apprenticeship under his father and grandfather who were also cabinet makers. Most of his tools were given to him when starting or during his apprenticeship some of which were already pretty old when he received them. I remember a pair of hand made clamps made entirely of wood including the screws. Sadly I do not know what became of them. I do have a hammer that probably dates back to Victorian times but thats all.
  10. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Feeling a lot better now having got the personal plumbing back to working order. Doctors orders are to keep taking the antibiotics and report any change. I've been asked to submit a sample which always reminds me of Jasper Carrots diatribe on the subject. (Why does Google direct me to everything other than what I'm looking for?) I'm talking about the part of his stand up routine where he talks of carrying a urine sample in a whisky bottle and leaving it on a bus.
  11. Common house leek. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sempervivum
  12. Could be bugle, does it have a square stem?
  13. You are aware that the Morris Major/Austin Lancer shares a floor pan with the Morris Minor? Any suspension or mechanical parts from those models should be a bolt on to a Minor.
  14. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Having drunk gallons of water I was up and down to the loo throughout the night. Thanks iD, in fact this is the second time I've had this. First time was a few years ago and it certainly made my eyes water. In fact a bit of the kidney stone was left behind but I was told its not big enough to worry about. I increased my fluid intake (water) as a precaution. I suspect that this time its more of the original stone leaving the premises. Painful as it is its much preferable to it sticking in the ureter. My brother had the same problem at about the same time but his stuck in the ureter resulting in a destroyed kidney and then his remaining kidney failed, he is now on dialysis for the rest of his life with other health problems as a result.
  15. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Well the washing machine has gone into spin cycle for the third time today. Still a couple of washes to go but not until there's room to dry it. The 'infection' turned out to be no such thing. This afternoon after a rather painful pass of water there were solids in the bottom of the pan. It was more of the kidney stone departing. Everything is back to normal now, just have to book a check up with the GP to make sure there's nothing untoward.
  16. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Back on my usual computer now, its a mystery what happened but I disconnected it from the mains supply and let the battery run down. As I expected it had shut down because of that so I re-connected to the supply and switched on. Earlier today I contacted the computer shop and they said it might be because of an update, quite possible as my back up computer wouldn't switch off due to it also doing updates, not surprising in that case as it hadn't been used in over a year. Managing to eat some solid food and feeling better. Sorry to hear that Q. I hope your mum's OK.
  17. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. First lot of laundry done and second lot in washing machine. Still some more after that but thats not urgent and there's no more room indoors for drying it. Ambulance has been called to next door but one. His 92-year-old mother is staying with him for a while, hope she's OK.
  18. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Quite a morning this morning. Apart from feeling completely cream crackered I still have the extra washing and cleaning to do so that got done first. I did manage to get a bit of solid food inside me and feeling a bit better for that. Then my computer started playing up. I switched on and the screen with the icons came up but the toolbar simply would not load. So after several attempts I decided to switch off, but it wouldn't let me. The toolbar was there but showing nothing, no internet connection or even battery condition. I am using my back up computer which might conk out at any moment if it gets to warm as the fan isn't working, just as well that its quite cool at the moment.
  19. Evening all, managed to put a bit of food away today but still no appetite. Time for an early night so goodnight all.
  20. What, and deny all the corporate hangers on their shindig?
  21. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. I've got the prescription form for the antibiotics but neither of the pharmacies have the required item in stock. I will call my GP surgery tomorrow morning for an emergency appointment, I've already got a sample ready. I'll take the prescription in to the local pharmacy while I'm about it. The same occurs on the English/Welsh border in some places.
