  1. I'm not sure as to whether it is the TV or the Virgin box. When I switched off this evening I checked both for heat. The TV was not even warm but the box was so I will be contacting Virgin in the morning to check to see if that is normal.
  2. Wheeltappers posts are not included in the total posts but the likes on all posts are are.
  3. Evening all from Estuary-Land. I was watching Antiques Roadshow when I decided to switch the light off. I switched the TV off instead needless to say it went into scan mode when I switched it back on. Had to leave it for ten to fifteen minutes before it went back to normal and I'll have to check that nothing is overheating next time I switch on.
  4. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Its been dull and grey today I thought about the G word but that was it. I just don't have the mojo to do anything. The TV is still going into scan but only when it gets a bit warm, but it worked perfectly this evening when it was a bit cooler. Time for dinner, lets see whats in the fridge.
  5. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/174804883086?hash=item28b32ed68e:g:lysAAOSwxlJfdiTM
  6. Thanks, more details here. https://whatpub.com/pubs/ESE/058/owl-pussycat-basildon
  7. The idea was to link the registration numbers to the fleet numbers, as on the original Routemasters. Whether that was done I don't know.
  8. My local has just re-opened. It always seemed to be very popular before the lockdown and the customers all seem to be coming back now. Its just the local pub, no frills just good beer and food.
  9. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. A grey day today but dry so I'm tempted to do some of the G word but at the moment I'm resisting temptation. Problem is when they get together they seem to breed like rabbits. Have you been good? please tell?
  10. More mundane than that. To increase the load space the engine was moved to the left and the driver moved forward. As the engine was the 10hp unit from the Prefect car the throttle linkage from the car was used and was moved leftwards as well which meant that the brake pedal had to go on the right. This as can be imagined was a cause of many accidents so it was changed to a more conventional arrangement in 1948. As an aside left hand drive versions retained the central accelerator to the end of production.
  11. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Normally at this time on a Sunday morning I would still be tucked up in bed having my usual Sunday morning lay-in but I woke up before seven and couldn't settle so here I am. I came across Stercus Cranialis many times in my working life and indeed in life in general. Another feature of the disease is that sufferers somehow seem able to recognise each other and congregate together in certain areas. A good example was the HR department where I worked, they were so badly affected that my line manager walked out of the door telling them where to put the job. I followed him three months later taking early retirement by exploiting their condition. I might add that I had to look it up as my Latin is none existent, but it's useful for avoiding the naughty word software.
  12. Evening all from Estuary-Land. The Nurofen has put Arthur Itis in his place though it will need a boost before I go to bed. Apparently its a different aircraft, one that crashed in 1986. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/california-drought-airplane-folsom-lake-1986-crash/ The later crash was none fatal. In the 1965 crash four died but only one body was recovered.
  13. But is it a Baa-gain.
  14. Or the Wacky signs thread where its handbags at dawn.
  15. Indeed, there are several places in the UK where shunting locomotives are controlled in the same way.
  16. It's getting a bit heated on the Wacky signs thread, handbags at dawn stuff.
  17. Hello again from Estuary-Land. I spoke too soon about the TV, it started scanning again when I switched it on at lunchtime. Switching off at the socket and letting it stand for a few minutes seemed to do the trick. I'm even more sure now that its the heat that causes it as it was rather warm at the time. I've no need to watch anything this evening so its staying off until tomorrow and maybe even not then. Arthur Itis has been playing up so more Nurofen has been deployed, now time for a muggatee, be back later.
  18. That would have been a pre 1948 version. After 1948 they had the conventional clutch-brake-accelerator. The main identification from outside is the pre 1948 ones didn't have the 'tail' extension of the rear wheel arches.
  19. I'm not sure about £1 notes but a genuine white fiver is worth a lot more than its face value to a collector.
  20. The yellow one looks like common ragwort but that is a Eurasian plant so its probably not even related.
  21. A pyramidical orchid, they prefer chalky soils. They come in several colours from white to pink, red a purple as in your picture.
  22. The way some cars are driven they might as well be driverless.
