  1. One big money-spinner for many club shows is catering, often making the difference between loss and profit. Even if many restrictions are eased it still might not be possible to provide catering.
  2. My first train set was Trix Twin. I shared it with my brother and we had a double oval of track connected by two crossovers. They used the same NMRA couplings as Hornby-Dublo so I assume they could run with H-D stock.
  3. Morning all (again) from Estuary-Land. I feel a lot better now after a couple of hours eye-lid inspection. The book that I couldn't put down was 'The law of innocence' by Michael Connolly, a crime thriller. Tea has brewed so its be back later.
  4. Morning all from Estuary-Land. I stayed up last night to finish reading a novel. So late that dawn was breaking when I finished. Now back to bed for some sleep, be back later.
  5. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Taking a break from reading a book to put the kettle on. Earlier this evening I had a bit of sneezing (hay fever) but thats stopped now.
  6. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Not done much today, just reading a new novel so I'll probably getting to bed late tonight. Tomorrow I might remember to look at the Dawlish Warren webcam. The reason is that weather down there is forecast to be very wet and windy and coming from the south east. The shrubs beside my house are very spikey (berberris?). When they come round to prune them I obtain some of the prunings and scatter them where the cats and foxes like to squat down, they don't squat down there now.
  7. The webcam should be interesting from mid afternoon tomorrow (Monday 5th). According to the forecast an anticyclone (low pressure system) with accompanying rain and high winds will cross the coast just to the west The rain and wind will be hitting Dawlish Warren from the south east. https://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/2651474
  8. Rant time. The new weather report at the bottom of the page on Windows 10 is a right PITA. When writing my last post as I went to click on the submit button I brushed the cursor over it where it instantly popped up covering half the page, including the submit button. I didn't click on it I just brushed over it with the cursor.
  9. If you want to see why museums are not what they used to be look at the signage to where it says 'Sponsored by'.
  10. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Well it's still morning on GMT. As you may have gathered I've overslept this morning and what with finding a very full e-mail inbox and perusing and rating ER's its taken me an hour to get here. The Drama channel, not sure if you can get it in Switzerland. It is available on line however. I had the same and I threw them on a compost heap and buried them. Got a lovely crop, didn't have to buy any spuds for months.
  11. Both the Metropolitan and the LT&S used tank locomotives exclusively for passenger work.
  12. Evening all from Estuary-Land. No TV on this evening so no idea whats happening with the kick-ball, neither do I care. But there's some sort of celebration going on outside, I hope they're quieter by bedtime. Thats what I do on my PC (Google Chrome). Best thing is to bookmark the page.
  13. Well there was a news bulletin on the BBC, squeezed in between the tennis and kick-ball for the ten minutes up to seven o'clock. The main features of the news was... tennis and kick-ball.
  14. I just finished watching it, I've seen Death on the Tyne and I hope the third in the sequence, dial M for Middlesborough might be televised soon.
  15. I have been but they are hard to come by, and I'm not sure I can afford one.
  16. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. I had another mis-directed post from Royal Mail this morning, the second in three days but this one was not around the corner but on the other side of the estate. I see that the BBC has cancelled the news again, deciding that tennis and kick-ball is more important. So I scanned the tv programs and I'm now watching Murder on the Blackpool Express on the Drama channel.
  17. Apparently they tried it out on pigs first.
  18. Just as well it wasn't 12" to the foot rail.
  19. I once saw a rotted out Sun-Tor A55 and a fairly decent A55 van for sale (different vendors) at the same time. I did have thoughts of buying both and transferring the Sun-Tor bits to the van but the van was sold when I made enquiries.
  20. A big question is if you are organising an exhibition is 'Is there enough space?' Extra space will be required to comply with social distancing which will probably mean wider aisles and greater space between exhibitors/traders. This in turn will mean fewer exhibitors and traders can be accommodated. Add to that you will have to limit the number of visitors also due to social distancing. These alone would probably make the typical club exhibition unviable.
  21. Saw a classic yesterday going the other direction to which I was driving. A Morris badged A55 van with a Dormobile caravan conversion.
