  1. It was not made by Oxford Diecast. In fact it is more accurate than the OD one as the bonnet is the correct length. The OD one is about 1mm too short.
  2. I had a car that rarely if ever looked dirty but was also as rarely washed. It was painted bright (British Telecom) yellow.
  3. One key ring model that we have overlooked is the Only fools and horses Reliant three wheel van. I checked this against the published dimensions and it is spot on 1/76 scale.
  4. I wonder how long some of the modern light coloured liveries would fair if we still had steam.
  5. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. It feels a lot later though as dark ominous clouds have arrived so it might be that 22 expensive hair do's are going to be ruined. I refuse to use Amazon though they are a lot cheaper than some others. That in a way is why I will not use them as its because of their tax avoidance practices. Just heard some fireworks going off outside, is there something to celebrate?
  6. I've had plenty of cars where leaks weren't a problem, it all ran out through the holes in the floor. Mind you it was advisable not to drive through water splashes or large puddles.
  7. I have a couple of Lone Star models in my collection that are 1/76 scale or not far off. The first is a Foden eight wheeler that is apparently very close to 1/76 scale and the other is a Merryweather/AEC Ergo fire escape ladder which is slightly underscale but not by a great amount.
  8. Thats the problem with Matchbox with their 'Fit the box' scales.
  9. Same with the Mk. I, the Oxford rendition is of the Lotus version with the quarter bumpers on the front and a few other faults such as the rear window and the tail lights, more Ford Falcon than Cortina. The Base toys version although the four door version and with the correct rear lights suffered from QC errors such as the 'kick up' of the back end. The later versions of the Base toys ones were not too bad but could be improved by swapping over the wheels and interior of an Oxford one.
  10. Don't know whats happening but it only shows the first 24 seconds of the clip.
  11. Its a well known fact that in diecast model cars Ferrari outsells Ford by a ratio of three to one.
  12. Its still operating. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Laxey_Mine_Railway Even smaller gauge than I thought.
  13. There are some places in the British Isles that can or could have boasted three gauges. Laxey on Fraggle Rock for example. Not only does it have the MER and Snaefell Railway but the mines pumped out by the famous wheel had their own system running alongside and in a tunnel beneath the MER. IIRC the gauge was two feet.
  14. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Well only just morning, now going back to read this mornings erudite comments from other ER's.
  15. Being Essex born and bred I know most of the short cuts to avoid traffic hold ups. A good few years ago my model railway club borrowed a transit minibus to take some visitors to Mangapps and being one of the few members with a minibus on his licence was asked to drive. I took the minibus down some narrow lanes were the hedgerows were brushing both sides of the minibus. Surprised a couple of members who went in their own cars who shot off ahead by arriving ahead of them as well.
  16. The Triang Minic road system was supposedly 1/76 but the cars were obviously a lot larger.
  17. Swap meets are opening up again, there's one scheduled locally for the 25th of July. https://www.ukmodelshops.co.uk/events/swapmeets
  18. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Found another couple of paperbacks that haven't been read yet so something to do when kick-ball is on the TV tomorrow. Now to tackle Farcebook, be back later.
  19. What is green and then turns red? A frog in a food blender.
  20. They also do this version. https://majorette-model-cars.fandom.com/wiki/Mercedes_TraX_Publics
  21. I have one of these in my stash. https://majorette-model-cars.fandom.com/wiki/Construction_Cab I wasn't quite sure what it was when I found it on a swap meet table. Apparently it is a mobile toilet for construction sites.
