  1. That would be a V4, probably the worst engine ever made by Fords.
  2. I have just 'discovered' Redutex and a packet of various textures arrived yesterday via Rails of Sheffield. I will be experimenting with them over the next few weeks/months.
  3. Nearly forgot. In answer to @polybear's question. The original flashing was not lead or a substitute but pre-formed plastic. The main roofing is fibreglass and is still watertight. The problem was that there was too much water for the gutters to handle.
  4. Morning all from Estuary-Land. A lot cooler this morning and the TV is working as normal after a week of trying to scan. Its pretty obvious that its affected by the heat. Bad news is that the foxes have ripped open the black sack that I put out in the early hours and scattered the contents over the front garden, thats despite it being double wrapped. I cant get out to deal with it until later so fingers crossed that the bin men are late, there's no sign of the bin wagons dawn chorus yet so I might be lucky.
  5. Wasn't the April edition by any chance?
  6. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Arthur Itis is getting active, might be some rain on the way then. I don't think they use lead now. When next doors extension was re-roofed a couple of years ago the flashing was plastic and moulded with the aid of a hot air gun.

  8. Hopefully they will bring out some other small cars.
  9. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Just had a call from the roofer, fitting new flashing will cost £190, sounds reasonable for 7.5 metres. Still 24C outside and reckoned to get no lower than 14 tonight.
  10. Road steam locomotives and lorries which were quite common up until the 1930's used to fill up from rivers, streams and ponds. They often carried vacuum hoses for that purpose.
  11. Just stuck my nose out of the door. I see that yesterdays hail has (not surprisingly) stripped the remaining petals off of the poppies. Not too bad as most had set seed already and the very few still in bud seem to be OK. No other apparent damage, even the roses kept their blooms if a bit battered.
  12. The storm yesterday caused flash floods in the town centre. In particular where the roads dip beneath the railway bridges. One of the worst places for flooding was removed a couple of years ago. That was a pedestrian subway that was sometimes flooded to the roof. It has now been replaced by a pedestrian crossing.
  13. A well known side effect of LDC addiction.
  14. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Genuine early riser this morning. A lot to do today so when I woke up just before six I didn't roll over and go back to sleep instead I got up. Stiff joints this morning but once I started moving about they eased quite a bit, no need for Nurofen this morning. Now time to run a bath, be back later.
  15. Evening all from Estuary-Land. I've got a roofer coming round to have a look at the flat roof tomorrow. I had the roof replaced 25-30 years ago (fibreglass) and it was guaranteed for 15 years so its not done too bad. Time to put the kettle on, be back later.
  16. If you've ever wondered about the safety in an accident between a modern car and an older car.
  17. Some here were as big as golf balls, at least its stopped now and the sun is coming thrugh.
  18. Just had one heck of a hail/thunder storm with hailstones as big as golf balls. Unfortunately it found the weaknesses of the flat roof of the hallway but the leaks are where it meets the walls of the house and will only require new flashing.
  19. Its now persisting down, quite heavily.
  20. The dampness seems to have woken up Arthur Itis, Nurofen has been deployed. Still distant thunder but now coming from all directions.
