  1. So how much would the one that I have that is properly built and painted be worth?
  2. You want slugs? I have plenty to spare. They are nothing like the ones I saw in Barbados, up to 12" long and 2" diameter.
  3. Slightly off topic. it was reported on BBC Breakfast this morning that there is a shortage of ladybirds this year. This apparently is due to the warm dry spring last year followed by the lousy summer. I don't recall seeing any ladybirds yet, has anybody else?
  4. You can use Mr. Muscle drain cleaner as well. Did you try rinsing it under a running cold tap?
  5. Fantastic detail, I like the 16 ton mineral loaded with scrap(?) on the spur behind the locomotive.
  6. You should never use brake fluid for stripping paint. Either use proper paint stripper or less corrosive chemicals.
  7. On the subject of Mercedes 'stars', many would find some etched 4 mm scale Mk. 1 Cortina tail light bezels useful.
  8. It seems that Jaguar/Land Rover are quite happy if not eager to licence models of their products. Other manufacturers do not seem to be as eager, thats why you won't be seeing any Mercedes models from Oxford any time soon. Even EFE have recently bought out a new version of the Mercedes minibus without the Mercedes star as the licencing fees are prohibitive.
  9. A short clip is shown on the District Dave website of the train with Sarah S and the pannier tank on one end and a 20 on the other. Is this unique having steam, electric and diesel locos all working one train together?
  10. They do not for me, they just take you to the sight. I clicked on the 'photographs' tab but there is no identification numbers on the photographs. On your postings there looks like a gap between 'Liverpool' and 'Street', when posting links there should be no gaps. On the pics I looked at there was something like %20 between Liverpool and Street? When I post links I always check in preview (click on 'More Reply Options') to make sure that they work before posting.
  11. The services are quite intensive so it was deemed necessary to have several locomotives. Each train has two locomotives as a 'back up' in case of breakdown. Don't forget that the lines used accommodate regular intensive services so it is logical to provide each train with its own 'Thunderbird'.
  12. A Coles mobile crane? it looks like the operators club.
  13. Its not just Hornby, most products from China have a flexible delivery date.
  14. External mirrors were only mandatory on vans and estate cars (where the view through the interior mirror could be obscured by a load). Many manufacturers offered them as an extra and the choice of drivers side only or both sides.
  15. The car wouldn't have got off so lightly if it had been a train.
  16. It was proposed under the Light Railways act, but like many such proposals it wasn't proceeded with. IIRC it would have either meant moving the station at Ongar or the local cemetery. There was a layout based on the proposed line that appeared in a model railway magazine some years ago.
  17. I've got one of those, I paid £1 for it. Perhaps I should put it on e-bay.
  18. They did indeed use 3.8 mm to the foot. It equates to 1/80 scale.
  19. I have a book called 'Transport Treasures of Trafford Park'. Published in 1973 ISBN 0 903839 01 6. This is a photo album of Trafford Park from the late Victorian period until 1973. It was published to commemorate Transpo '73, a transport exhibition held in the docks as part of the Festival of Manchester. I would suggest seeking out a copy as it has many illustrations of activity's in the park.
  20. The presence of Triumph Heralds, Ford Anglias and Mini's means that it is post 1959. My grandparents lived in St. Leonards from 1952 to 1972 and until I left school I spent most of the summer holidays there.
