  1. I live near to a busy commuter railway station. We now have residents parking permits but before then the local streets were choked with parked cars. One of my then neighbours was disabled and had a special parking bay marked out, one morning some selfish idiot parked in the clearly marked bay and when my neighbours wife pointed it out to him he tossed her the keys and told her "Move it if its in the way." As the lady did not drive I moved it for her. When the bloke returned in the evening he wasn't too pleased despite my moving his car to a place right outside the station with those pretty double yellow lines, there's no pleasing some people.
  2. You are now officially a Grumpy Old Man, welcome to the club!
  3. Some time ago as now the bankers crap on us.
  4. With all this talk of kangaroo steaks etc. I hope no one from Tesco's is looking in.
  5. Of course he would, the Daily Mail said it was so.
  6. If temperatures were that low on my birthday things would be bad, my birthdays in July (In the northern hemisphere at least.).
  7. Went to the toy fair at Rayleigh this morning. In a box marked 'all £1' I found unopened a) Southern Pride etched coach sides for BR Mk. 2 FK, b.) S.P. again Mk. 2a TSO sides, c) Hurst models etched sides for Super BG and d) Fox transfers for Freightliner class 57 and 86. All for £4.
  8. How much are plots of land in Vancouver?
  9. I have exactly the same Herpa model. The crane is destined for a (OO scale) Best Choose Mitsubishi light truck together with a tilt bed from a Cararama HO scale truck. But that bright orange plastic will have to be toned down and weathered first.
  10. If it wasn't for UK planning regulations.
  11. On this evenings news, apparently there has been a glut of wartime explosives (bombs/mines etc.) washed up in the south west caused by the storms
  12. I once took a roll of slide film into Boots to be processed, pointing out that it was slide film not ordinary film and receiving confirmation that the assistant understood this. Needless to say that that it processed it as ordinary film and totally ruined. I think I ended up throwing the film and photographs away, a great pity as it might have be possible to recover the photographs with modern technology.
  13. Ah, someones found a modelling use for bubble-wrap.
  14. Looks like I get post 60000.
  15. Does anyone know for how long the series will go on for? At one a fortnight thats 26 per year, most partworks that go the distance are at least 2 years.
  16. Didn't Airfix make a plastic kit of Locomotion in a larger scale? If new tooling is created the scale can be changed, a good example is some of the earlier Oxford models. The 1/76 Lotus Cortina for example is based on the Corgi 1/43 scale model complete with errors (back window, roof profile and rear lights.)
  17. In some of the photos some of the Colas orange appears to have a pink hue.
  18. Perhaps someone could point the media in the right direction?
  19. I pressed 'like', I'm retired too.
  20. I noticed in some of the recent pictures that some of the houses at Dawlish appear to have lost some rendering and in one case an entire window frame leaving the interior open to the elements. I hope this has been dealt with.
  21. So that's what he means by 'Code 3'.
  22. I doubt if you'll have to water it.
  23. Slept like a log last night, but somehow the duvet and sheets ended up on the floor!!! Every cloud has a silver lining and switching the street lights off at midnight means that if anything of interest in the night sky (such as meteors, planets or the ISS) will be easier to see, as long as those silver lined clouds stay away.
  24. Seeing as its happened before I hope its not a game of 'chicken'.
