  1. So now you will not be able to take a pee without being bombarded with adverts. I'll just have to practice aiming higher.
  2. Still just as ugly. I recall that by fitting the 2.5 litre V6 you got a better fuel consumption than from the original 2 litre V4.
  3. For goods traffic there is a Metropolitan Goods brake here >> http://www.smallbrookstudio.com/page3.php page down, its the third brake van.
  4. Thanks for that clarification Coombe Barton. Its well known fact that road traffic accidents increase dramatically when the clocks go back in Autumn. Its been estimated that this results in up to 50 deaths each year, time to go permanently to GMT+1 methinks. (Pun intended.)
  5. I don't see why we have to go through this rigmarole of changing the clocks twice a year. Why don't we stay on summer time all year? I know about the kiddies having to walk to school in the dark in Scotland but the answers simple, open the schools an hour later in the winter. This was put in place nearly a century ago to help increase the production of munitions for the Western Front, it was abolished for a few years in the 70's but was re-introduced at the insistence of the Scottish Nationalists as one of the conditions for support of a minority Labour government (the children walking to school in the dark was the main reason stated.) Incidently under the old system the winter time was GMT+1 (what is now summer time) and summer time was GMT+2.
  6. They have to be set up properly and reset after a battery change. On a couple of occasions the one in my kitchen has gone haywire, apparently due to a stray signal. On one particular occasion it set itself forward by about 3 hours, I reset it only for it to 'reset' itself and go back 3 hours.
  7. They might have to reinstate services first. I noticed some broken pipes before the concrete was sprayed, and some shoring up might be necessary for that to take place.
  8. Rant Mode! Its my usual habit when I come down about 8 in the morning to switch the box on to get the weather news. This morning when I switched on the Breakfast Show had been replaced by the timing sessions for tomorrows Formula 1 GP! So no weather news. I'm sure there are more people interested in what the weather is going to be like than what colour racing car will be at the front of the grid.
  9. Mine all operate by the radio signal from Rugby so I don't have any problems like that. The only problem is waiting for them to reset after installing a new battery.
  10. Could they be the remains of wartime anti invasion measures?
  11. Looks like the 70's are scared of getting their feet wet.
  12. The only timepiece I have to adjust now is my watch. All clocks in the house are self adjusting but I've yet to see them perform the change.
  13. Like LTM did with the 150 anniversary class 20's.
  14. I think LTM as the owner of the locomotive will receive licence fees. TfL might still hold the rights to the 'London Transport' and 'Metropolitan' titles. I've no doubt that they will be available from the LTM shop so I imagine they would have got the licencing sorted.
  15. Our Boxer (long departed alas) used to fall for that one every time. Then sat there with a woebegone look when she realised she'd been duped. Mind you she was back on the chair as soon as you left it.
  16. A 'buzzy, whirly, sky camera thingy' would be nice as a smiley too.
  17. Being retired that makes me really glad that I am.
  18. Is that the stuff which is supposed to pass through the human body completely unaltered?
  19. I ordered the MR 128 from Kernow on Sunday and it arrived yesterday morning.
  20. There is a picture here of the engine and radiator. http://www.greatwestern.org.uk/aec1.htm
  21. FWD locomotives were sold under the Name of Hardy Rail Motors. After the company was absorbed by AEC they went on to produce the GWR diesel passenger railcars.
  22. Pity they can't run a 'special' to Dawlish on the 4th of April for all the enthusiasts.
