  1. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Parcel duly collected this morning and as expected it was the next issue in the 'World of Stobart' series, a rather neat small Nissan lorry with a 'cherry picker' access platform on the back. It is so hot and sticky here at the moment, according to the forecast the temperature is not going to drop below about 18 degrees tonight.
  2. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Off to pick up that parcel from the sorting office (ours opens for a few hours Sunday's). I hope its what I think it is, I'll report later so bye for now.
  3. Have you sold the roadsweeper? I am willing to swap a Unimog for one.
  4. Evening all from Estuary-Land. I no longer lend anything to my brother because he never ever returns anything. I once had a router, I loaned it to him and quite honestly forgot I had loaned it. About two years later he asked me again if he could borrow it! never having returned it in the first place. So now if ever he asks to borrow anything he gets a list of items to be returned first, so he never borrows anything from me now. Thats it for tonight, goodnight all.
  5. The next one is beginning to arrive. Described on the Atlas website as 'Stobart maintainence' it has turned out to be a Nissan Cabstar light truck with a cherry picker on the back. A complete (and pleasant) surprise. I was out when the postman called today so I have yet to see mine but going by the photographs I've seen its up to the standard of the road sweeper.
  6. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Been up since the crack of dawn maintaining our clubhouse, just got back now to clean up and out for a bit of shopping.
  7. Many of the Aurora moulds were lost in a train crash.
  8. Car duly serviced and MOT'd. I did get a call from the garage informing me that the battery was on its last legs and needed replacing so I gave the go ahead but other than that there was no other problems. They were surprised that it still had the same battery as when I bought it 8 years ago.
  9. Sorry no pics yet but I intend to use the diorama's at various shows and photograph them then. If you are on Facebook the gentleman who made them displays his models in the group 'scale model buildings'. They also require a few minor repairs and alterations.
  10. Morning all from Estuary-Land. I can't add any more to what has been said about the terrible events in Nice last night except that my thoughts are with the victims. Got to go now as my car is booked in for its service/MOT at ten, be back later.
  11. Thats because they've stopped running trains. Goodnight all.
  12. Afternoon from Estuary-Land. Collected the said models/dioramas from the elderly gentleman who made them, I didn't realise just how big they were, the larger of the two (1 metre X 60 cm) only just fitted onto the back seat of the car with the other (75 X 55 cm) rested carefully on top of it. The larger model represents a haulage company yard with office and workshop buildings and the other a car dealership with service facilities, both are 00 scale. These will be ideal for displaying my collection of Oxford and other models.
  13. Morning all from Estuary-Land. The new PM and cabinet seems to be the only thing on the BBC news still, she may not be a mother but she still knows how to make a naughty boy (BJ) clean up his own mess. Off out later to collect and pay for a couple of model buildings/dioramas. An elderly chap who lives near to me produces model buildings to order and pretty good they are too. He had made these models to order then the people who ordered them pulled out so he had to put them up for sale. Thats all for now, be back later.
  14. Debatable point, in the case of the car models masters the situation didn't seem to arise.
  15. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Car now booked in for its service/MOT for Friday, should be no problems as I only do about 2,300 miles a year. Usual net surfing/shopping/inner eyelid inspection today so be back later.
  16. Commiserations and congratulations where neccessary and goodnight all.
  17. Agreed, but very few such kits seem to have survived. Another problem that occured was when two different plastics were involved that reacted with each other. The most common example being the Airfix military tank kits where the vinyll tracks used to melt the polystyrene.
  18. One problem is that some plastics can change over time and become brittle or warped. This can vary from kit to kit due to such factors as storage conditions and exposure to light or even damp.
  19. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Sun was shining this morning but coming over cloudy now, rain forecast for tomorrow. I see that one or two people have endured 'Train spotting' but 10 minutes was all I could endure. Thats all for now, be back later.
  20. There were plans to re-create some of the Airfix 1/32 car kits by scanning unmade kits and recreating the masters, models such as the Austin Maxi and Vauxhall Victor estate. I think the difficulty was finding an unmade kit or kits in perfect condition but I understand the project is still ongoing.
  21. I watched it for about ten minutes. I am a bit older than the target audience which seems to be about 12 years old.
  22. Afternoon from Estuary-Land. With so many suggested names its now difficult to describe a driver I encountered today. The filling station at Pitsea Tesco's sits within its own one way gyratory system off of which is the home delivery loading bay. To go from the loading bay to the parking area for the delivery vans entails driving around the one way system. One of the delivery drivers however decided that he couldn't be bothered to go around the one way system and I was confronted by him as I entered the one way system. I am open for any suggestion as to what to call him.
  23. Morning all from Estuary-Land. I too checked Debs Facebook page and indeed nothing has been posted since 22nd June so your not alone 45156. Managed to pick up a few cheap diecasts at Sevenoaks yesterday including a professionally converted code 3 EFE lorry which only cost a fiver, it came with a certificate from the guy who done the conversion as well. Thats all for now, be back later.
