  1. I once saw a Smart Car re-badged to Smart Arse.
  2. Belated greetings from Estuary-Land. Still sorting out the stuff from the shed, I'm completely amazed with what I've found, most recently a planer/sander attachment for an electric drill still in its box with the instructions, I can't ever remember purchasing such an item so perhaps it was my dads, and he died 26 years ago. It will come in handy for when I prepare the shed for the builders and a few other jobs when he's finished. Bye for now, be back later.
  3. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Went down to Halfords today to order a trailer which I will need to transport some dioramas that the car is too small to accomodate. I was looking at some second hand trailers on e-bay but ones that suited my needs were all around the £350 mark. The brand new trailer was £230 + £30 for assembly (Its free collection from store but even broken down it won't fit in the car and the home delivery charge is only a couple of pounds less so its a no-brainer.) and even with the extra £95 for an ABS plastic cover it comes to very little more than a second hand one. Now time for bed, goodnight all.
  4. St. Trinians figures are available from wargames manufacturers however they are 28mm (a wargames scale) which will be to large for 00, unless of course you want seven foot tall St. Trinians girls. (Requests in a plain brown envelope please.)
  5. Its GDB your talking about, he's bound to get a splinter.
  6. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Feeling a lot better this morning, just as well as I have to finish clearing the shed and making it ready for the builders. That involves running conduits and fitting the patrices for the electricity supply and lighting before the dry lining is done. Your first, how many have you had?
  7. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Feeling a lot better now, the cause was a gastric problem that now seems to have cleared, just as well I laid down on the bed as its not to far to the loo, anything else is just TMI. My local Homebase informed me that Nectar cards will still be accepted until the end of the year but it might depend on the individual store. Bye for now, be back later.
  8. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Feeling a bit yeuk! this morning so going back to bed for a while.
  9. Personally I'd vote for the crocodile.
  10. I'd hate to think what would happen if one went into reverse.
  11. Keep it up and you might find that they end up paying you to take it away. Mind you some supermarket wines I've tasted they should have paid to take it off their hands.
  12. Its not his pyjamas that needs stitching up.
  13. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Dry but a bit cool here at the moment, just as well as I have to toddle off to town to collect a parcel from the sorting office. Not much else to report so bye for now, be back later.
  14. I found this on youtube I can see a few of these appearing on layouts, possibly some motorised.
  15. I received the airport fire tender last month but my next one according to Atlas will be the Class 66! 21 models have been issued so far and despite my being told by Atlas that that would be all there was a list recently published with another ten or so models on it. More intrigueing perhaps is one correspondant on the Facebook Atlas collectors group has received an as yet unlisted model of a track machine called a 'gopher'. I have only seen a thumbnail pic of this machine though it looks as if its for removing ballast beneath the track and using its conveyor belt to deposit said ballast alongside the track or into wagons.
  16. Great pic, remains of groyne in the foreground?
  17. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Came down this morning to find a card on the mat saying there was a parcel waiting for me to collect at the Royal Mail sorting office, timed at 07:15 this morning. As I was well and truly in the land of nod then its no surprise that I didn't answer the knock, assuming there was one. That means another walk into town tomorrow but a good chance to check out the 'Squat shops' that appear just for C*******s for anything useful model wise amongst the tat. Nothing much else to report so bye for now, be back later.
  18. Ian, I would suggest contacting an auction house, preferably one that specialises in model railways.
  19. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. My first flight was in a Chipmunk when I was a member of the ATC, followed a few days later by several hours flight over East Anglia in a Varsity. The Varsity flight was quite interesting, a crewman opened up a hatch in the floor and invited us cadets to have a look. It was the bomb aimers position, with nothing but some clear perspex between us and the ground 12,000 feet below. The 'comfort zone' was at the rear of the aircraft and operated in the same fashion as the railway carriage stock of the time with a warning not to flush whilst seated. My first flight on a jet was on a Dan Air Comet to Corfu which was/is notorious for its tight approach, flying in and seeing buildings above the aircraft is a weird sensation. The following year I flew to Barbados in a WIA 707 quite generous seating space but an 8 hour flight was boring without much in the way of entertainment. Subsequent flights have all been on 737's of various types and seating arrangements, from reasonably comfortable to cattle class.
