  1. Morning all from Estuary-Land. A dusting of snow this morning and a little bit more to come its started snowing again, but according to the forecast it should warm up by midweek. Apart from going to get the papers its a good day to stay indoors. Thats it for now, be back later.
  2. The DS never had the greatest of turning circles, manouvering one of the extended ones must have been like docking a supertanker.
  3. Evening all from Estuary-Land. I use a local pharmacy because it is very local, at the bottom end of my street. Whats more my GP's surgery is just a few yards further on. I have found the local Tesco's pharmacy to be very helpful and handy at times, for one thing they are open for longer hours. The local Tesco's opticians also I've found to be excellent. On the subject of model Morris Minors, I consider the Classix version to be the best but as they have been out of production for some years now they are getting hard to find.
  4. Should be able to as they are native to Australia.
  5. Some went to the Maltese education department and remained as built right down to the dual passenger doors. I remember one when I visited Malta in 2003 converted to mid underfloor engine with raised floor but still carrying its London fleet number transfer in the drivers cab (IIRC SMS 515).
  6. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Luckily I've had all the taps replaced over the last few years so haven't had any plumbing problems, I've also had isolator valves fitted to each indivdual tap. In my last property the previous owner was a tightwad, he'd had the (plastic) plumbing in the bathroom apart at sometime but instead of replacing it with new he put it back together with plumbers sealing tape to stop it leaking. This meant that it was neccessary to cut through the plastic pipes rather than unscrewing the part that needed replacing. In fact the previous owner was so tight he took all of the lightbulbs and replaced them with low wattage ones. He also took the garden shed which was included in the property description so I demanded its return through my solicitor. I ended up with a new shed at his expense as the old one had partialy collapsed when he moved it and he had built a smaller shed from the remains. I've no doubt that Horsetan can tell of similar shenanigans. Have a good POETS day, be back later.
  7. Probably for a long term rail replacement service due to engineering works such as the repairs at Dawlish.
  8. And the bendy buses still carried on with their habit of self immolation. Which reminded me of when I visited Malta in the early 80's an earlier generation of ex London buses had just been placed in service, the AEC Swifts which seemed to have been quite successful, more successful than they were in London. There only problem was at the time there were a lot more tight corners in the Maltese villages and I watched one having to shunt too and fro to get around a corner.
  9. Malta and Cyprus are other places where you can see classic cars, and commercials in regular use. Mostly British but quite a few Japanese classics as well now due to 'grey imports' in the 80's and 90's.
  10. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Didn't need any alarm this morning, bin lorry outside at 07:30 with machinery that needed lubrication judging by the screaching, it was time to get up anyway. AndyB, they can only put anything across the boundary line with your written permission and they are legally bound to restore anything that they disturb such as fences or patios. The builders have a duty of care to not damage planting or anything else on your property. Thats it for now, be back later.
  11. I'm not sure about rechargables but you should never use long life batteries in a smoke alarm as the materials in the batteries react with those in the alarm, and starts fires.
  12. Could be worse, look at who we have as foreign secretary.
  13. If there is an alternative, on the A13 between Pitsea and Vange there is an occupational crossing connecting a farm to the road, the scene of at least two fatal accidents. Since the last accident it has been fitted with AHB's though.
  14. There must have been a fault as the presence of your vehicle should have operated them. Unless it was a Reliant Robin, some detectors because they operate magnetically could not 'see' them because they used very little ferrous metal in their construction, aluminium engine block and fibreglass body.
  15. Ford light vans even a passenger seat was an optional extra. Indeed a passenger side windscreen wiper was an optional extra on the 1953-59 Ford Popular, not that it made a great deal of difference with vaccumn operation.
  16. And his mother was Scottish so Arnie will have to wear a kilt.
  17. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Slept like a log last night so why do I feel as if I'm ready to go back to bed? The forecast is that it will get colder by the weekend, north easterly winds are expected. Not much else to report, be back later.
  18. But you have to sign up for the whole series, Atlas will not sell individual models. This model in particular is much sought after by model bus enthusiasts hence the high bidding.
  19. In Liverpool the chains would be to stop them nicking the contents.
  20. I prefer Cockspur, liquid butterscotch.
