  1. Andy, thats a typical bullying tactic, isolate the victim. You really must join a union and take out a grievance. Not only for your own sake but if you were to leave he would only move on to his next victim.
  2. Have you walked across anything spilt such as petrol? Mind you every time you fill the car up you're probably been standing on petrol or oil. Or it might possibly be industrial strength cleaners of the sort used to remove chewing gum.
  3. Thats exactly what happened to me last April in broad daylight. I wish sometimes I was still driving the vehicle I had 20 years ago, a jeep with a full set of (legal) bull bars, when I was driving that I was very rarely cut up.
  4. I've found out why my computer has been playing up, the most annoying being rearranging my Facebook groups into sh1t order. The mouse was on its last legs. So when I went to Tesco's today I went up to their computer department for a new one. Even better that meant I had purchased sufficient items (10) to trigger the branded price comparison and got a £3.20 rebate which as the mouse cost £6 I effectively got it for £2.80, nice.
  5. Has anyone tried to get on Facebook this morning, I did a few minutes ago and it seems to be down.
  6. Thats how I read it as he mentioned a lump sum.
  7. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Bright and sunny but still a bit breezy here this morning. Only a few scattered bins to mark the passing of Doris who is now apparently visiting St. Petersburg. Her strength is diminished by passing over land so she's nowhere near as fierce as she was. Tracing one's ancestry back beyond about 1800 can be very difficult. I was fortunate in that the line back to 1516 had been well researched, helped by the fact that it was a very unusual name 'created' by the person born in 1516. Why they changed their name I don't know but members of that line seem to be very close to the establishment, one was employed as a spy during the French revolution and a distant cousin is a current MP, who I will not talk about as he is at the opposite end of the political spectrum to me. Another line of reseach stopped dead at 1666, the records were lost in the great fire of London, so I am unable to confirm a person hung for piracy in 1594 was an ancestor or not.
  8. You could always ask for the return of the cash and threaten prosecution for theft?
  9. Otherwise hurricane Dora will give them two black eyes.
  10. I probably wouldn't be able to afford it.
  11. Evening all from Estuary-Land. My niece has taken up researching the family history so I have been passing on my own research which I haven't done much with for the last few years. One branch of the family has gone back to someone born in 1516, I haven't counted the number of generations but reckoning on four or five each century that must be between 20 and 25 generations. Biggest problem is that being now of the 'senior' generation there's no one else I can ask.
  12. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Slept like a log last night but by the state of the bedclothes the log must have received the full force of hurricane Doris, ending up in a tangled heap on the floor. Talking of H Doris she's blowing strong at the moment but accompanied by bright sunshine. Its now a good time to take some action, join a union and slap in a grievance. No word from NHM this morning, hope everythings going as well as can be expected.
  13. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Didn't get off to sleep first thing last night so I got up, had a snack (02:30) but when I went back to bed I went out like a light, despite cheese being part of the snack. Hope you are allowed home soon Neil as they seem ready to release you. My sore ankle is starting to itch underneath the dressing, reputed to be a sign of improvement but its driving me crazy. C & C's were neccessary, be back later.
  14. Try getting a mortgage on one. There was an estate of these in Cranham were they had to remove the concrete and replace it with a brick 'skin'.
  15. Yes thats right, to all intents and purposes a two storey prefab. There is a couple of card kit makers who also produce prefab models, ideal if your era is early BR.
  16. There were quite a few in Hornchurch plus a small estate in Dagenham that actually belonged to Newham. Though friends of my parents lived in one I didn't hear of noise being a problem when it rained. The biggest problem I heard of was that they had steel chimneys lined with asbestos. I'm pretty sure there is a card kit of these houses, Kingsway Models? Kingsway do produce a card kit of a 1960's block of flats.
  17. There is a rumour that Atlas are bringing out a partwork series of 'racing cars' in 1/43 scale. We'll have to wait and see.
  18. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Ordered the new shoes on Sunday and they arrived this morning, even better they are a perfect fit. On the subject of social care even Germany which has amongst the best health and social care system in Europe has found it coming under strain but estimates are the crunch won't come for another 15 years or so and they have time for action. The problem has been that politicians of all colours do not think further ahead than the next election, 5 years when they should be thinking in terms of 50 years when those in school and younger will be drawing their pensions.
  19. The trailer is from the Roco Minitanks range.
