  1. Evening all from Estuary-Land. I remember meeting a bishop once at a model railway exhibition. I was operating a layout that had a few 'saucy' scenic items on it. I was pointing some of them out to some punters when I looked up to see a bishop viewing the layout. Fortunately he found it amusing. Quite surprised when I went out about ten this morning to find the roads almost empty, even the A13 at Sadlers Farm roundabout! First off was to go to the toy fair at Rayleigh where one of the traders had the latest Oxford Diecast offering on display. This was the Beadle chassisless coach in East Kent livery, lucky to find one as like the Hornby Peckett they didn't remain on the shelves for very long.
  2. Morning all from Estuary-Land. I'm still here but just going out for the day. Be back later.
  3. Should we be discussing this? For all we know these items of rolling stock could all be part of the strategic reserve.
  4. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Another long soak in the bath this morning so a tad late. Bus passes, I can only use my pass on buses in London, on all other services I have to pay. Also I cant use my bus pass in Wales or Scotland. If I had any say in the matter I would have bus passes with a fixed annual amount, say £100 of which 10p will be deducted for every bus journey or mile travelled by rail with the provision for the user to top up and also a free top up for those who have to make regular visits to hospitals etc. Authorities can set them to pay full fare during peak times if they so wish.
  5. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Chris, I hope things go well for you and GDB great to hear of Steves progress. A bit late rising this morning as last night I sat up in bed reading a book by the aformentioned Carl Hiaason, called Skinny Dip and by the time I'd finished dawn was breaking.
  6. The RCL and RMA Routemasters could easily reach 90 mph.
  7. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Bright with high cloud this morning with very little if any of the wet stuff predicted. Awoke this morning to the usual Thursday morning chorus of the bin wagons, at least the sweeky one has been lubricated or replaced. Another Tom Sharp enthusiast I gather, regretably as he is no longer with us there will be no more of his wacky sense of humour. All is not lost however as there is a worthy successor in Carl Hiaason.
  8. The victim apparently stepped into his path when the lights were against her so a manslaughter verdict was unlikely. Furthermore the victim was texting on her mobile and not paying attention. However he has been found guilty of other offences and has been told to expect a custodial sentence.
  9. I had a 1980 (V reg) Allegro estate that could be described as a Mk. 2.5. It had the Mk. 2 chrome bumpers and exterior trim but some of the mechanical features and interior trim were Mk. 3.
  10. Yet the one reviewed in RM had the motor assembled the right way round and with two flywheels.
  11. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Spoke to Ian on Facebook this morning and he said that he will be back but not just yet. Ian's other news is that for the first time for several years there are no quadrapeds on site. Varian passed away a few weeks ago and the donkey is now with others of his kind in Alisons field. Opened a fresh pack (750grm) of tea this morning to realise I had forgotten to order large leaf tea and had fine leaf instead . The fine stuff I had before from the supermarkets tended to clog the filter basket but this stuff seems to be OK. The supermarket stuff is little more than dust and should go back into the tea bags. Bye for now, be back later.
  12. I have always been wary of power tools, but I do have a Dremmel now.
  13. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Bit late on parade this morning, spent too long soaking in the bath. Glad to see that those puppies were not dumped and were escapees and that they got back home. Bye for now, back later.
  14. It isn't, it fell over. I know, hat, coat gone............................
  15. The chara behind your Grandmother is a Thorneycroft. The one in front of it is an AEC or possibly a Daimler. The one in the second pic is a Crossley, ex RAF tender.
  16. By the looks of it he decided on snake for supper.
  17. You can have him with our blessing, and thats despite the fact that he's a distant cousin of mine. (Not distant enough as far as I'm concerned but sending him to Tasmania would be a start.)
  18. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Bob was right, all my computer needed was a re-boot, now everything is back to normal, thanks Bob. Good news from Debs and hopefully Johns recovery goes as it should.
