  1. I also arrived late at the show, the only problem was the only free paint left was gold or silver.
  2. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Bright and sunny this morning but cold and it looks like its going to stay that way for a couple of days. The cold is still lingering but gradually being beaten into submission with various potions, some of them alcoholic. Now to make the best of the sunshine, be back later.
  3. If you did go there today you would have found it closed. The only steam running day left this year is this coming Sunday (closed tomorrow as well).
  4. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Bright and sunny but cold here this morning, but much preferable than the wet. Thats about all for today, be back later.
  5. Its petrol so does not require ad blue. Possibly the reason, at least 90% of the time it is only shopping trips. Since then it has had a quick blast down the A12 that should have cleared the cobwebs.
  6. Interesting as the milometer was almost exactly on the 22,500 mark. As the car is serviced annually and that represents only 2,500 miles per year I don't think I have anything to worry about. It hasn't shown since so I assume everything is ok.
  7. Waddesdon Manor is only a short distance away from the Buckingham Rail Centre (Quainton Road), if its open of course. EDIT Open this coming Sunday for last steam session this year.
  8. My car is a 9 year old Hyundai i10, it has fuel injection so a choke is not required. Perhaps its a legacy from other markets where the model has a different fuel management system.
  9. Morning all from Estuary-Land. A bit dull and overcast but forecast to stay dry today. The cold is still lingering but I'm managing to get a good nights sleep, even if the sheets and duvet are all over the shop in the morning. GDB, I hope things sort themselves out, thoughts are with you and with Debs and Neil. I heard of the Canvey independence thing a couple of weeks ago, of IIRC 19 councilors on the island only two are opposed to the idea, ironically they are the two UKIP councillors.
  10. Yes, thats it, problem is my car has an automatic choke.
  11. The handbrake on warning light on my car does not go out until the lever is pushed right to the floor. I have sometimes spotted it on despite the handbrake being completely off. I did have a warning symbol come up in a corner of the dash the other day but it has since disappeared. It was amber rather than red and shaped like an old fashioned gas tap. I have no idea what it was supposed to indicate, I checked the lights, oil and water and even the screenwashers and all was OK.
  12. Ever thought of one of these for a project? http://www.modelsforsale.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=806062 It can also be built with the hood up.
  13. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Just emptied the kitchen caddy, 95% of the contents are used tea leaves but just after emptying it last time I found a dried and strivelled spring onion in the back of a cupboard which went into the bottom of the caddy. The constant burial in warm moist tea leaves has revived that spring onion and it is now plump and moist so thats going with a small amount of cheese with my lunch tomorrow.
  14. Morning all from Estuary-Land. A bit late this morning as I spent half the morning soaking in the bath. The cold is in retreat but still fighting a rearguard action so still keeping the medicines to hand. Had a quick look in on Facebook this morning where I see someone has discovered some amusingly unusual names in the media. First is a Professor Whet Faart, I had to check that one out and it appears to be genuine. The other is a wedding announcement for a Miss Dick and a Mr. Bender. The bride has decided to use both names after the wedding and she will be known as Mrs. Dick-Bender.
  15. Apparently lithium which is used in hybrid vehicle batteries is abundant in the now closed Cornish tin mines. They are now considering reopening these mines to extract the lithium. Problem is it is lethally poisonous, even more so than lead and mercury and will have to be mined by remote control.
  16. They found the remains of the woman inside it.
  17. '83 tube stock, designed when there was a drop in usage on the Underground, and then the usage picked up.
  18. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Slept quite well last night despite the cold which is still lingering but nowhere near as bad as it was yesterday. Despite sleeping well I still feel tired so I might just go and lie down for a nap.
  19. Evening all from Estuary-Land. What was a slight sore throat last night has turned into a full blown cold. At least I have some suitable medicine (single malt).
