  1. Roughen up the surface and add a little plain yoghurt if you want moss.
  2. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Pouring with rain when I awoke at seven this morning but now a wintery sun peeking through. But don't use them straight away, put them somewhere out of the rain or frost for a few months. As I was saying this morning when the server went AWOL just as I pressed the post button. Thank you autosave.
  3. Make that three, you boil water to make tea.
  4. Morning all from Estuary-Land. A bit gloomy this morning but the forecast is brighter, later. Rick, your link took me to a subscription page asking me to subscribe to the newspaper before I could view the item. I have no problems with a date to put up C*******s decorations, I don't put any up. One thing I spotted on Facebook, you can now hire an inflatable pub! http://www.inflatablepubcompany.com
  5. You will never catch a lowland haggis using conventional methods as all their (six) legs are of equal length. The usual method is to electrocute them, using a pair of electrodes, the advantage of which is if the voltage is high enough they are ready cooked. The highland haggis of course caught by chasing it to the mountain peak and when it tries to turn round to go down it topples over onto its back and is helpless.
  6. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Weather as reported by Tony, according to the seaweed wranglers its going to get even colder next week, a blast of cold air from the North Pole is heading our way and is even predicted to reach Spain. Will have to watch the forecast for the week after the 1 o'clock news (BBC) or on Countryfile this evening. My C*******s is sorted, my brother is providing the taxi service to my sister who is providing C*******s dinner. All I have to do is sort out pressies for my siblings and their spouses. Thats it for now, be back later.
  7. Rarest haggis of all is the left handed haggis, mainly because they can only mate with another left handed haggis.
  8. Wife "I've got this bag of my old clothes, do you think I should give them to charity?" Husband "Nah, just throw them out for the dustman." W. "But what about all the poor and starving people?" H. "If they fit them they certainly aren't starving." They say he should be out of hospital in time for Christmas.
  9. That bend is still recognisable today, there is a pair of bungalows where the trees were behind the spectators.
  10. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Nice bright and sunny here this morning but cold but I prefer it to wet, warm and dull. Warley is too far away for me to contemplate, about the furthest I could manage nowadays is Peterborough. I am contemplating going to the Milton Keynes exhibition next February, I hope my friend with his young son can come with me. Thats it for now, be back later.
  11. Having visited the Eden Project a couple of times and seeing several similar disused claypits in the same area I was thinking that one of these would make a suitable venue for hill climbing/rallying events. Of course facilities would have to be provided for competitors and spectators and that might prove too expensive.
  12. I doubt that that anywhere in Benfleet or Thundersly can be used, the hill in question is now largely residential. There are some steep climbs on the other side of the A13 that are signed 'Unsuitable for motors' that are both steep and poorly surfaced but most if not all exit directly onto the A13.
  13. I collected a friend and his young son to take them to the Southend show this last Saturday. My friend lives in Benfleet and on the return journey he directed me on a different route to avoid a difficult right turn onto the A13. The route he took me was down Church Hill, Benfleet which I had heard about as it was a hill climb venue up until the 1920's. An accident on this hill in 1924 when a pedestrian was seriously hurt led to a ban on such events on the public highway.
  14. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Happy birthday JD. There was an item on the breakfast show this morning about kids with special education needs, it drew my attention as has I have mentioned my friends little boy (and his sister) fall into that category. They interviewed some of the children at a special school and one girl of about 14 years old was talking of her ambition to become a doctor, this was despite her having Downs syndrome. I do hope that she succeedes despite her disabilities or at the very least her ambition takes her further up the ladder. Dry but cold this morning, much better than wet and windy that others are experiencing at the moment. Bye for now, be back later.
  15. Evening all from Estuary-Land. I think you should be carefull mentioning wetness and dreams in one post, certainly read through what you've written before posting.
  16. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Bin day here as usual except that the local council is too tight to provide bins and we have to make do with plastic sacks. Coming home from the club last night I had to avoid a few of the pink recycling sacks rolling down the road like tumbleweed. So when I put my own sacks out for collection I placed a brick on top of them, this morning they were still where I placed them. A quick check reveals no damage from the winds but I estimate Ricks leaves are now heading down the Bering Straight.
  17. Correction, after watching tonights weather news Ricks leaves must be passing over Norway on their way to the north pole.
  18. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Ricks leaves would have passed to the north of Tony and myself and are probably in Denmark by now.
  19. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Bright and sunny this morning but a bit very windy, at least we don't have to worry about fallen leaves as most are halfway to Suffolk by now. Some might prefer a slap on the bottom.
