  1. Morning all from Estuary-Land. A bit late on parade today, spent some time this morning soaking in the bath so I'm all behind. Not much else to report so congratulations and commiserations where required, be back later.
  2. Glad to hear of the better news re. Debs, goodnight all.
  3. I was born and brought up in Romford. One particular feature of the mid 30's semis that had near misses was roofs that had received minor damage. The original dark red tiles had been replaced with bright orange tiles giving a patchwork effect. Also in parts of London, near the docks in particular where several adjacent terraced houses had been destroyed prefabs had been put in their place. Also the severed ends of the terrace were often rendered and sometimes still retained the chimneys and fireplaces of the missing house. The house my mother was born in, an Edwardian semi in Dalston, London the other half was destroyed and never rebuilt and is now the access to a block of flats which has taken the street number of the missing house.
  4. Evening all from Estuary-Land. I was out last night and when I came home I saw signs of the return of the slugs on the carpet. This time however I noticed that there was no return trail. So I lifted the pile of magazines and there was the slug hiding underneath, its now consigned to the waste bin with a good coating of salt.
  5. The Cararama Transit is a Mk. 6. Problem is the difference in scale although not great is apparent when placed alongside the Oxford Mk. 7.
  6. Did anyone notice the police car bottom left? It turned right into a side turning, reversed out again and then departed lights flashing bottom right.
  7. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Abit grey this morning but predicted to brighten up later. Sorry to hear of your MiL DD. Hope to hear more good news of Debs and heres wishing her get well soon and the same to Simon and Andy and any other ailing ER's. Muggertee awaits so be back later.
  8. Evening all from Estuary-Land. I missed the dawn chorus of the bin wagons this morning. They must have been as the bin bags have disappeared, stealth bin wagons?

    Oxford N7

I remember travelling behind one from Kirby Cross to Walton-on-the-Naze c. 1958. The train engine taking the other half of the train to Clacton.
  10. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Bright sunshine this morning but still a tad cold and an odd shower predicted for later. Best wishes to Debs and Simon, hope things go well for you. Not much else to report, be back later.
  11. I've heard that one or two cars from Randall & Hopkirk (deceased) still survive, a Mini and a limousine the make of which I am uncertain but I seem to recall an Austin Princess. The limousine also appeared in several other TV dramas of the same genre.
  12. Very worrying about Debs, wishing her a speedy recovery.
  13. No one has seemed to notice the Citroen H van in the new models to come yet.
  14. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Georgina has passed by but still wet and windy. Had my hair cut on Monday and I'm noticing the lack of hair in todays wet and windy conditions.
  15. Morning all from Estuary-Land. The same hooley is blowing here as elsewhere, I drew back the curtains to see seagulls flying backwards. I just hope they do not get to close to the one in front as seagulls have sharp beaks. Hope that Debs will be back in the fray soon and best wishes to other ailing ER's. Muggertee waits so be back later.
  16. It could be worse, a shell suit perhaps?
  17. You could always seek out the Husky toys estate version and fit the Oxford wheels and floorpan to it. And the interior with a bit of modification.
  18. It may have something to do with 100 years since the armistice.
  19. Thats more like it, someone didn't proof read the original announcement. I hope they bring out more stock to go with it. For WW1 some of the WD ferry vans and wagons with the continental style brakemens hutch that after the war were used between Harwich and Bishopsgate up until the 60's. For WW2 an LMS jackshaft driven diesel shunter and perhaps one of the 12 wheel ammunition vans.
  20. It was opened in 2001 but was closed in 2003 when the management company went bust. The cars remaining inside were unclaimed by their owners or the owners couldn't be traced. I think disposing of them will have all sorts of legal complications.
  21. BR electric locomotives in 4mm scale* by R.S. Carter has drawings of the NE steeple cab locomotives. *Model Railway Constructor Planbook 3 published by Ian Allen.
