  1. A Ratio LMS ex Midland Johnson 2-4-0 motorised with brass chassis and metal wheels, all for £6. Not from E-bay but from a local exhibition.
  2. After Baku whats the chance of the viewing figures going up for the next few races?
  3. The later Sentinel railcars had just such an engine with six cylinders.
  4. Morning all from Estuary-Land. As Tony said wet n' windy in this corner of the country, but it is reckoned to improve before next weekend that by all accounts is going to be a scorcher. Mel, there was something in the news a week or two back about banning the sale of all ivory even antiques so best to check with the auction houses. I hope Debs gets through the chemicals and is back to her usual self and best wishes to all other ER's under the weather. Muggatee # 2 awaits, be back later.
  5. I'll be there, my friend and his young son might be with me, if he is allowed out, its his daughters 18th birthday so he has to earn an awful lot of brownie points first.
  6. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Jamie, perhaps you should have put a minimum bid on your boat, £200 sounds like a fair number. My interest is that its scale is 1/75, ideal for 00 scale. I have a half finished Billings Cutty Sark thats also 1/75 scale, hull finished but rigging to be done.
  7. Morning all from Estuary-Land. After yesterdays exertions and getting to bed late last night I overslept this morning but now I'm bright eyed and bushy tailed, lets see how long it lasts. Jamie, I looked up your boat on E-bay. I think you have seriously underpriced it as the next (almost identical) one is listed at 8 times the price! and some others including new unmade kits at 14 times the price. I would consider putting in a bid myself but I would have no means of collecting it. It stated in the film that it was only one of the few such crossings in Greater London. I know of one such branch that has not one but two such crossings, the Romford-Upminster branch. I wonder if there are any others?
  8. I got 404 too at first but when I tried again I got through.
  9. Evening all from Estuary-Land. If Tony made it to the exhibition at Benfleet I think I would have missed him anyway. Both myself and my friend with young son in tow left for Romford about 11:30 having arrived at opening time or just after. I did find a bargain at the show, a motorised Ratio Midland 2-4-0 with a brass chassis, not sure of what motor is fitted but it is seized and hence set me back only £6:00. A very good show with some interesting layouts. I decided to go to the Romford show via the A13/Dagenham/Beacontree Heath/Whalebone Lane route. It was OK until I reached Beacontree Heath which was gridlocked due to roadworks a temporary traffic lights right outside the bus terminus. This meant that a nominal half hours journy took over an hour. The traffic passing the venue of the Romford show was also heavier than usual, apparently due to an accident on the A12, the normal route I would have taken so I lost very little by the looks of it. Going home was easy as I was born in Romford and bought up in the area and a bit of local knowledge goes a long way and there were no hold-ups. Purchased a couple of 'ready to plant' buildings from the club stand at Romford for use in dioramas. The show was good with quite a few layouts that were new to me. Glad to hear from Debs and that she is making progress however slowly and best wishes to all other ailing ER's.
  10. Morning all from Estuary-Land. A bit overcast but at least dry. Muggatee X 2 awaits then off to Benfleet/Romford, be back later.
  11. 11/11 so I'm waiting for the knock on the door.
  12. Morning all from Estuary-Land. We must have the same forecast here as the Stationmaster, predicted to rain but no sign of it. I wont go any further as I don't want to tempt fate. Two shows to go to tomorrow, a small show at Benfleet then the bigger one in Romford. My friend who normally comes with me lives in Benfleet so we've arranged to meet at the Benfleet show before going on to Romford. The Benfleet show is midway between my friends abode and Tony's. Best wishes to Debs, Mal and all others under the weather, be back later.
  13. I spell 'sulphur' the way I was taught too at school with a ph. If anyone wants me to spell it any other way they will be told to stick it up Uranus!
  14. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Went to bed a bit late last night, not that I missed any sleep, I just went to sleep in my comfy armchair for an hour or so. Not a lot else to report and muggatee # 2 awaits so be back later. Or pickled eggs?
  15. How do they know Uranus smells of rotten eggs? Simples, the atmosphere contains a lot of Hydrogen Sulphide.
  16. Possible that the owner may have been arrested, taken ill or even died. Just a thought, I hope there was no frozen food or any other foodstuffs in that shopping.
  17. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Not a lot to report today, weather the same as yesterday. C & C's where neccessary and I hope that those black dogs stay in the kennel where they belong.
  18. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Its a bit overcast now but the sun was trying to peek through earlier. I noticed that the mayflower was out just before the hot spell, on Sunday I passed plenty of blossom and the fields of oil-seed rape were in full flower rather earlier than usual. C & C's to all ER's under the weather, be back later.
